What has changed? It has been 2 yrs since I published my ” position paper” on Iran.
Exactly what was feared has occurred or might occur!
We worried that hard liners within the IRANIAN regime would be elected in 2015. New elections have not taken place as of this date.
We worried if we didn’t stop the Iranian hard liners, they would destabilize the entire Middle East. The Shiite axis of Power has in fact destabilized the Middle East without using their Uranium.
We are battling ISIS because Iran destroyed the balance of power in the Middle East. Iran joined with Malaki of Iraq and isolated and murdered the Sunni’s. Both factions are dangerous to the civilized West.
There are few good players in the Middle East. Israel represents the ” good guys. ” Listening to Bibi speak to Congress should not be an option, his speech is not “grandstanding” or politics as usual. . As the PM of the State of Israel, his speech represents his real concerns for his People. I respect him for speaking out against terrorism and letting us know how the people of Israel view Iran.
Iranian ICBM’s are currently in Hezbollah’s possession.
Iran has in fact done what they said they would do 2 years ago. They didn’t wait for 2015 to occur, instead they destabilized the Middle East prior to electing a hard liner now. They have broken their word. What more can happen?
Perhaps, we are finally in a position to watch Iran implode. They have wasted their water resources. They have created an impoverished State, while the Military controls Iran with the Ayatollah. What could happen next?
Now is the time for the Middle East to condemn all Geo Political Players who promote Terrorism, whether extreme radicals of Sunni or Shiite origin. We’re in the 21 st Century, barbarism has ruled our planet for too long. For the sake of mankind, for the sake of humanity, we must insist that the World condemn and ostracize those Countries who promote terrorism. An offense against one of us, is an offense against all of us. We have real problems to solve, we have a planet to save for those who would work together in Peace. As for the “malcontents”, get out of the way of decent people. We no longer wish to tolerate the distraction of War.
I have attached my Post dated 11/20/13 : Iran: Just the facts, based on sources…
Origins of the State of Israel Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
Join with other SWFS members in learning about early Zionism and the modern miracle of the creation of the State of Israel, as we study with synagogue clergy and Karen Spira, a visiting scholar from Brandeis University, the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies. In this 2-hour seminar, we will discuss the ideologies of Zionism that brought Jews to Eretz Yisrael, creating the pre-state Jewish community known as the Yishuv; the people, institutions and conditions of the Yishuv; the political and legal transformation of the Yishuv into a nation-state; and the values and compromises embodied in the Israeli Proclamation of Independence, in which the Yishuv accepted the UN Partition Plan and entered the family of nations. There are brief suggested readings that will be distributed to attendees prior to the session.
RSVP is required. $18.00 suggested donation to support our Israel programming
Our thanks to Benjamin Scheuer who wrote and directed #The Lion appearing off Broadway at 45 Bleeker Street Theater. And Thanks to Peter Baynton for his illustration of Ben’s sentiments and ours.
I took this Clip at the #TedxBway event @ New World Stages on 2/23/15. Enjoy. I did!
Mark your calendars for next years event. Who knew?, This was their 5 th year! Theater and the arts enrich our lives using all our senses and experiences. I learned a lot from them: marketing, psychology, sociology all needed to promote and enrich our culture.
US Lions have much to sing about as we flex “our claws ” and roar! This is our beginning too!
I’ve held many positions in my life: rewarding and diverse. I seem to have the ability to see problems within an existing organization. I understand the unresolved issues, create a game plan for change and integrate new ideas and products. I create systems within institutions, permanent systems, that change the existing institution. I start with my concept of change and wind up with an organizational structure that ” we” create.
Let me explain. When I worked at Ford, I was given the task of integrating anti corrosive materials into the Paint Dept. I wrote the GMP’s ( good manufacturing practices) in conjunction with manufacturers recommendations and Paint Dept Managers. I met weekly with the heads of Body and Paint who pledged weekly when they were prepared to implement the new anti corrosive products . Our newspaper , called a “hot sheet ” , was circulated to the responsible department heads and the Ford Operating Co. The newspaper had a dual purpose, it defined the products to be implemented , assigned a date for implementation and designated the person responsible for the product’s incorporation into the painting system. The newspaper and the GMP’S became our record of a successful integration of the new products . Additionally, by assigning personal responsibility to product integration , the Ford Operating Committee was assured that what was pledged , was indeed accomplished. There was always a ” go to ” person for every product to be integrated within the system. Accountability and responsibility were not optional. It was mandatory to assign personal responsibility for the use of every designated new product. It never occurred to us, that people were exempt from responsibility for product implementation.
The Ford value system in 1976 mandated accountability & responsibility . When you pledged to meet a deadline, you met the deadline or stated why it couldn’t be done in the original time frame and amended the time frame. Because Managers ” lived or died ” by their schedules, they planned accurately for product implementation. They learned to set realistic goals for product implementation. We allowed for human fallibility too! Products that fell into the ” as required” category, were never used. All of our goals were met. Failure was not an option. “We “, at some point the “I ” changed to ” we”, and we created a new system within the corporation, that functioned independently until being integrated within the existing structure.
Every job I’ve had, even Merit Carpets, I was the primary mover of my corporation originally. My corporate vision was the initial vision for my Company. As the organization grew, my vision changed : though the risks were mostly mine, Merit’s labor force, and my Foreman in particular, became my partners in the business. We all assumed responsibility for our work load and jobs, we all shared in the profits in a known, defined way. Responsibility and accountability for job performance was clearly delineated and accepted. Profits were divided in predetermined amounts as employees assumed greater responsibility for job performance. At some point, the “I ” was replaced by ” we ” and “we ” bid jobs together , changing the original corporate structure. If the Recession had not occurred, Merit would have continued as a Corporate entity under labor management. Therefore, In every instance, my involvement in an organization changed the vision and the structure of the original Corporation. Though I was the original driving force of change, change occurred when ” we” were all involved.
Sustainable change requires, ” we” ! No man is an Island, no man can work alone for change, change is effective when ” we” are all involved.
The question effecting us now: How do “I” change the Political Parties? Reduce the influence of money in Politics. Create an awareness of the issues. State simple ideas with one focus. Develop a team of involved individuals who will create other teams, until ” we the people” are involved in our survival. To paraphrase President Kennedy, “ask how ” we can work together for the American way of life we cherish”? We have a choice when Politics effects us, silence should not be an option. Have a great day dear followers. All the best . Joyce
Why is the Federal Budget important to ordinary citizens?
if we give subsidies to fossil fuel corporations and manufacturers, we take money away from funding alternative sources of cleaner, low carbon, energy. We encourage fossil fuel production by funding it. Fossil fuels receive $600 + Billion in subsidies’ while alternative energy spends $ 400 Billion on R & D. Clearly our budget favors continued use of fossil fuels. Why do we continue to manufacture products that increase Carbon’s in the air and may lead to man’s extinction?
If we fund farmers who produce no crops, we no longer maintain our global position as “Breadbasket to the World.”. Worse , without diversity of crops, we can’t provide and maintain sustainable crops and food sources in many areas of our own country. Wouldn’t it be better to eliminate the subsidies to ” Big Agra” and empower citizens to create sustainable farms in many communities across our land?
Next, we have the student loan debt burden and the credit card burden. Low wages, the recession , and the elimination of middle class assets has led to a Trillion Dollars in Middle Class Debt. If the Laws were re-written to make our Banking industry fiscally responsible, if $2 Trillion in Corporate tax “evasion” were repatriated and the tax laws changed, I’d wager, the Middle Class would not seek punitive damages against those responsible for the recession. They certainly wouldn’t be motivated, if their student loan debts were forgiven and the Banking and mortgage industry thought creatively about loan refinancing ?
Last but not least, waste in customized government costs taxpayers money they don’t have. Though a small sum for the Federal Government, I heard on CBS news this morning that $4 Million is allocated to ” special” citizens, enabling them to fly into small airports and save a 90 minute drive? Has anyone been on the LIE during rush hour in our Big City?
LOL the biggest waste of spending in this Country occurs when we elect Presidents or Congress People. Billions are allocated for these Political Races. (FYI: @ $50,000/per job we could create 20,000 jobs with a Billion Dollars.) It’s a known fact that special interest groups benefit, not ” we the People”. I don’t believe Citizens United should remain a Constitutional amendment. If we are serious about ” good” government, this Amendment to the Constitution would be repealed.
There is much to be done…much that can be done. But nothing will be done, if the Middle Class remains fragmented rather then united. Never forget, Politics does effect US. My 2 cents. Thanks for listening dear followers , I truly believe ” change is in the Wind”. All the best. Joyce
I was asked would I start my own party of activists or include all diverse groups. The answer is, I would want to be as inclusive as possible. That’s the point, find everyone who is disenfranchised and unite under one banner . One voice representing many people. One voice reflecting the issues of the many. The objective is to review our wish list for change and pursue one issue at a time. One focus , one issue, one message for all of us until we change the platform and focus of the existing political systems or replace them with a new functioning Political Party that reflects the wishes of ” we the people” . It is “us vs them ” and “we the people ” have to prevail. We know our Democracy has been hijacked, we have to put Laws in place to reverse 40 yrs of inequality. All it takes is insisting on the ” proper budget”, the proper allocation of funds. He who controls the Country’s purse strings, controls the destiny of 300,000,000+ people. Do we want to control our destiny or should we continue to let the oligarchy in place control our destiny?
in every household, usually one person controls the family’s spending. Sometimes, In egalitarian households, two people decide on how to split their monthly budget. ,either way, every month or every week, there is a finite amount of money to be spent. We have a choice, do we pay for necessities? Is there money left over for entertainment? If we spend too much on luxuries, will we have enough money left over for our monthly expenses? These questions concern all of us, no matter how much money we have. If you are the Federal government , the same questions effect the electorate. They have choices to make with the money budgeted. The sums are larger then our personal budget but the concept is the same. How do you spend the money available and maintain your obligations to ” we the people”, not your donors? How do you insure a surplus of funds for a new project or a rainy day?
How you allocate budgeted funds determines the ” happiness ” quotient of we the people. If,” we the people,” are not considered when the budget is finalized our misery continues. That’s why whoever controls the funds for our Democracy has the power to effect 300,000,000 lives. That’s why it’s so important for us to be involved in the workings of our government. The electorate is no longer interested in making we the people happy. Why should they care? We are silent. We don’t protest. We don’t even complain, except to each other. It’s 8 yrs since the start of the Great Recession and we the people remain silent. When do ” we the people ” realize that remaining silent implies agreement with those in power ?
President Lincoln stated , ” AMERICA will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves”. For tyranny to rein in our land, we only need a few decent men to remain silent. I admit , I don’t remember who stated that fact. But I believe it to be true. All ” statesmen ” have called upon the People to act. Obama has asked for a grass roots movement to sweep the Nation, demanding change in the People’s favor. So many people have told me they are disenfranchised. If this is true, this is not the time to remain silent. Now is the time for citizen involvement, Join me and together we can change our world.
Practically speaking, I have found a free venue for us to meet and organize, “Governors Island” will accommodate our organization. We can plan an event for the entire family as delegates meet from 50 States. Let’s talk. We have nothing to lose except our liberty, our democracy and all of our cherished ” entitlements”. Time is of the essence. Silence is no longer an option when politics effects us.
What do I want in A Presidential team. They say a president can do nothing. I don’t believe that’s true. According to Historians, 4 great presidents stand out in history. They made a difference by the shear power of their personality , their dedication to hard work and their vision for a fair and just society . The Monumental 4: Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and FDR.
Perhaps the Country was ready to accept the change they brought about? Be assured, whether the Country and all our People, understood their vision or not, their vision prevailed creating our Republic and it’s strong foundation. Nobody worked alone, they all had Teams of Experts. Some, like Lincoln, chose to work with a Team of Rivals. (See Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book by that title and I urge everyone to read her book on TR, The Bully Pulpit. For information on Washington, I can recommend Ellis’s book on Washington or David McCullough’s book on John Adams or 1776) They all learned on the job as they developed their strategies and confronted the problems that were facing the Country during their time!
Washington was our first President. Clearly though he had never been a General, Washington at 6’4″ was chosen to lead the American troops because the Founding Father’s thought he had a Commanding presence. Before the Revolutionary War started, Washington ordered every book on Military Tactics he could buy from the British. He also ordered uniforms for himself! He had a rudimentary knowledge of Warfare since he had been a Junior officer during the French and Indian Wars. Through trial and error George Washington led the Revolutionary forces to Victory establishing, with the help of Adams, Jefferson and Franklin, The United States of America. Failure was not an option!
Lincoln came into office with 7 Southern States seceding from the Union. He represented a new Political Party, The Whig’s, now known as The Republican Party. He was unprepared for the turmoil surrounding him and personally selected his cabinet as the “winds of the Civil War” to come were blowing. With no choice, Lincoln entered the Civil War determined to rebuild our Union! After 3 years of fighting , by1863, Lincoln published The Emancipation Proclamation, Declaring “that all persons held as slaves, within the rebellious states”, ” are” and “henceforth shall be free”. By 1865, as the War was ending, Lincoln delayed signing the treaty to end the War in order to codify The Emancipation Proclamation. He knew that making the Emancipation Proclamation Law , was most essential . There was no other option.
Teddy Roosevelt: Our rough rider President. The most flamboyant of our Presidents, he possessed Charisma and an unstoppable energy. He did what he thought was right, even if it meant he put himself in harm’s way! Though TR came from the privileged classes, TR had a sense of fairness and justice. He used the Press to break up The Trusts and Monopolies that existed during the Gilded Age. He was for the working class and supported the average citizen in the “Square Deal”. He provided a system of Government that broke up the Monopolistic Corporation, held down rail road rates, and guaranteed pure food and drugs. He was the first person to speak out on Conservation and expanded our National Parks and forests. He knew what had to be done during the Gilded Age and he did it , creating the Regulations and Laws required to maintain a more equitable Society. There were no options for Teddy Roosevelt. He saw his duty to his country quite clearly.
FDR a cousin of TR’s was not Teddy’s first choice for President. FDR was a Democrat. He, too, was privileged but possessed a deep moral obligation to fix our Society. Roosevelt’s platform, “The New Deal,” was an evolving creation of Laws and federal programs to help the Common Man escape the poverty of the Great Depression. Through Laws he enacted, he provided government jobs for the unemployed. Economic growth and reform, was a primary concern of The New Deal: the regulation of Wall Street Banks was a necessity! Glass Steagall was written to protect our Society from the “boom and bust” economic cycles prevalent with out regulation. (The Glass Steagall Act was 36 pages long and survived for 66 years, until it was overturned in 1999, in favor of the Gramm- Leach-Biley Act which made affiliations between banks and securities firms possible. ) The Country’s Social Security System , the SEC, The FDIC were all established during his Presidency to provide an economic safety net to America’s citizens. FDR wasn’t always right but he tried reforms that he believed would lead to a stronger and more prosperous American Society. FDR had no choice, people were starving, food was scarce and we were suffering with the worst drought the Country had known. Once again, failure was not an option.
Where are we now? The Fiscal Crash of 2008, was the culmination of a deregulated monetary system that let “animal spirits” control the Markets and allowed the Banks and Bank “like” entities to be bailed out by the American taxpayer. Under various Presidents of the 20th and 21 st centuries, Laws protecting ordinary citizens from Bankers abuse were overturned. Just like 1901, we have created a “ruling class” in America that watches it’s wealth increase exponentially while real wages for ordinary citizens decreases exponentially, as well. Worse, our leaders claim lack of worker skills, or bipartisanship in government as reasons for stagnation of ideas and jobs? They are no longer fooling 300,000,000+ of US. We know what’s driving the Politicians and Big Business and the Banks; money and influence guaranteed by Citizens United and deregulation of Laws that would protect US from another Fiscal Collapse. We know modern day ” Oligarchs” govern to serve themselves while 300,000,000 + million suffer . Once again the country finds itself on the cusp of change, as ordinary people begin to understand the truth of their dilemma. We have been robbed of our money, robbed of our dignity, robbed of our moral convictions by an elected group of officials who can only serve the needs of their financial benefactors.
Once again, the populace will be faced with a voting decision. In 2016, we vote for a New President. It won’t be easy for the next team entering the White House. Though the real statistics on the State of our Union may be obscured, we the People, know we have a problem. It’s the Economy! Our new leaders will have to be a team with a vision for our country and the ability to carry out their mission: Changing our Laws to protect our citizens. We can no longer afford to elect a President as the lessor of evils. We must really believe and know in our hearts that the next Presidential team will help us in our quest for a return to better times. It’s up to us to define issues that are important to us .
We should look to elevate those we believe will lead us thru rough times to a better place. We want elected officials who are concerned with doing the next right thing for we the people and not their donors. This is my belief. This is why I so stubbornly say time is of the essence. This is why I am pushing all of us to stand up for what we know is right : A return to our cherished American Way of life. Led by people who have our best interest at heart. We the People suffer for our petty infractions of the law . Now it’s time to create laws that protect our rights and makes those who would tear down our system of Democracy and Capitalism, responsible and accountable under the Law. Nothing less then 100% dedication to the salvation and reinstatement of The Middle Class works for me. For 40 yrs we’ve accepted the mission creep of our demise. There is no need to suffer boom and busts, when proper Laws that define Financial Fiduciary responsibility can give us a Century of Prosperity.
We need prosperity at home to prepare us for the Global problems that confront us. The droughts, a loss of water reserves, will create hardships for regions of our planet , fueling the flames of war. To save ourselves from a return to the Stone Age, let’s all be involved .
The first step is demanding economic stability and jobs for all our people.
The second step should be education and tweaking the health care system so that it is affordable and offers quality.
We have much work to do. The next Presidential Team has to hit the ground running . That’s why I think citizen involvement is so important. No one person or two can do this job. We must all be involved in our salvation. Time is running out and we need understanding on many fronts. We have to be involved in developing America’s mission and we need a newspaper to spread those ideas and concepts to everyone.
Thanks for listening and reading dear followers. As always ,I look toward you for support. God Bless you and have a great day.
