The voice of Joyce: Periscope 11AM: Have you read the news? Thoughts for today.

October 30, 2015
  • 2cb02eeec022aaa6acf4eaae43f1cd69-1Photo on 9-14-15 at 9.56 AMWe have a dysfunctional society with many vested interests.   For the middle class to be resurrected, ” we the people”  need a simple platform and simple programs that we recommend. I believe it’s all about the economy.

It’s always about “the  money”!  Folks talk about  Congress and  government being  too large. Get rid of the money  influence and you ll have a “”Goldilocks” functional government”.   Have you read the news today?  Bipartisanship is modifying medicare by decreasing payments to health care providers and disability recipients.  Yet, we the people weren’t asked our opinions?  The implementation of safety standards for rail cars has been postponed till 2018?  The list is long on what ails us and short on real news that may effect our daily lives positively,   Too bad, at this rate we the people may never see fiscal or tax reform.
As another example of “piece meal” legislation, derivatives , instead of being taxed, will require capital set asides.   When? Not sure.   It may change the culture, it may curtail risk, but a tax on them is a win win for the Country and the Middle Class.

Be mindful of candidates who speak with conviction and passion, you have to listen carefully, when “truthiness”  trumps truth, since the news is “mostly” entertainment. “just saying”.

The voice of Joyce: Want Solutions?

October 29, 2015

2cb02eeec022aaa6acf4eaae43f1cd69-1Photo on 9-14-15 at 9.56 AMMy Periscope Community wants solutions.

  • In spite of Congressional dysfunction, the solutions exist. It’s the Economy, stupid! It’s always the Economy.
  • If you have Student Loans, watch out,  if you take extended payouts. Loan forgiveness, like credit card forgiveness or cashing in whole life insurance , is taxable as income.
  • Home ownership is at an all time 30 yr low. While rental units are going vacant due to higher pricing.

The Middle Class can not afford either the cost of College, or home ownership or rental units. The Middle Class has been priced out of most markets yet we remain silent.  Why aren’t we demanding facts and figures for Middle Class relief from our candidates?
There are solutions, they all include revenue to the Middle Class.

  • There are ways to generate revenue: Bank lending for entrepreneurs, Mortgage lending for homes, job creation and taxing derivatives.

It’s not rocket science. We need revenue. The Middle Class can no longer pay into the system. Their  jobs and education have been marginalized. According to the WSJ the class of 2016 will have jobs. What about the others already in the system, ” Where are their jobs”?
Where is it written that the Middle Class continues to suffer while Financial and Tax Reforms remain the sacred cows?   Say no,  to Corporate welfare,  and yes to upward mobility for the Middle Class .

The Voice of Joyce: The Mundane

October 27, 2015

Need Gas?

Need Gas?

Ed , my son, kept remarking as we drove through Albany,  ” why am I so interested in the Mundane, fascinated by the small towns and shops that define our daily lives? I’m fascinated to see how ” we the People” live out side the mega city, (NYC), the place  I call home.
The mundane , is not ordinary. It may define our lives. But it is not ordinary. It is those things that are vital to our existence, like gas stations and the price of gas. I find the differential charged between stations interesting. Price fixing, obvious and sometimes not, as the monopolies charge what they can , barely concealing the fact they too, have grown into oligarchies. The only class to remain static,  or in worse shape then pre 2007,  is the Middle Class. The rest of society has prospered at our expense. That’s why I’m interested In The mundane. I am the voice of the Middle Class and I am driven to bear witness as we are beaten down and disappear.
I need to remember our Middle Class civilization, how it worked, it’s people, how we conducted our lives, the mundane confines of our World, as it vanishes forever and shrinks below the horizon.

  • “Oh,  bright city on the hill, with your radiance like the sun, not even your ray’s penetrate into the dark small corners of our mundane lives. Yet we amble on, not aware that we are becoming extinct, like the Democracy that bore us.”
