America Speaks TheVoiceOfJoyce Who can define your Patriotism?

Patriotism by some , is defined by love of Country, right or wrong or get out.

So, if you accept racism, misogyny, pollution, the plundering Of Public Lands, for short term profit, you’re a Patriot? Or if you send others to fight in Foreign wars, created by bad Policy , you’re a Patriot. If you make money off Of everyone else, to their detriment and you’re happy “as a pig in shit”, though other Americans suffer, you’re a Patriot?

I don’t think so. Looking around me and seeing the Country I love trash traditional family values and respect for the other, makes me angry, but not any less a Patriot. As a Patriot, I Want to see America lead this World out of nihilism and create a society that allows everyone who wants to achieve their own version of success and happiness, in life, the opportunity to do so. That’s the meaning of Patriotism to me. Caring enough about America and Americans to unite our Nation, one person at a time, that’s Patriotism. Patriotism can not be labeled or defined by any one group. We can aspire to be Patriots, by the deeds we do daily as a People.

If you love America and Americans and want us to be the best versions of ourselves we can be, that’s Patriotic. It makes me want to cry when I hear the “Star Spangled Banner” or “America the Beautiful”. So many gave their lives for preserving their American homes. That’s patriotism. I identify with love of Country with love of self. It’s not about unconditional love , Patriotism is a universal proudness in a collective dream that survives in the hearts of the many.

We no longer live in Patriarchal Times. There’s no “my way or the highway”. We all have to work together to support the common good. Than our Patriotism need never be questioned.

What is a America to me. My home. The land of my birth. My birth makes me a citizen. My three generations of military service gives me the right to define patriotism, not whether I like current , past or present politics. My family was prepared to lay down their lives defending the lives of our Country and fellow Countryman. The question is do I have more right than the next to call myself a Patriot or define Patriotism? I don’t think so.

As long as your heart believes in America, you’re a Patriot. It is up to all of us to unite and shape the America we want to live free and proud in. This is not a conscious decision. No one person has the right to define one’s patriotism nor does another have a right to define one’s level of piety.

We are unique. It’s our uniqueness that makes the concept of Democracy work. When we all unite together in a common cause , making America the best version “she” can be, that’s Patriotism.

United we stand or separately we will surely die. A Patriot would want us to stand together to shape our common American future.

That’s-patriotism, the rest is politics.

The heart and pulse of “We the People “
