Joyce AmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am Friday: Let’s talk Healthcare,Critical Infrastructure, Jobs & Letter to Senator JohnMcCain enclosed!

June 22, 2017

Dear followers I sent this letter to Senator John McCain this morning (6/22/17)!  Please read and comment.  I’ll have another PowerPoint presentation for you on Healthcare next week.  Meanwhile, have a great weekend.  See you tomorrow from Grand Central or the train as I make my way toward a “Glass Weekend” in the Berkshires.  See you tomorrow around 11am.  We’ll chat.  My letter is “pasted” below for your review!

To John McCain

Thank you for responding personally to my letter and giving me the opportunity to communicate with you.  I value your concern for your fellow countrymen and women and would like to offer my advice on Healthcare which is of great concern to the majority of people in our Country. This afternoon I listened to a Webinar by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement along with 679 other concerned citizens and professionals.
Based on their 2 hour presentation, I believe the Committee tasked with improving the ACA should consider the following :

1. Reassuring the Insurance Industry that subsidies will be provided next year. Take the uncertainty out of the Market, now, before it’s too late to guarantee payments and maintain their service to the States.

2. Reinstate the mandate for young healthy folks. It’s necessary to have a balanced insurance pool to maintain costs.

3. As we know from experience, the older sicker pool will cost more to insure.

4. Reinstate expanded Medicaid to the States. I know folks in Alabama who cannot afford insurance because it’s too costly and they don’t qualify for Medicaid. They would qualify for expanded Medicaid.

5. Before the ACA 50 million people were uninsured. NOW millions are insured.

6. We can do better. We should be offering quality healthcare to our citizens at least cost. If the wealthy are paying for the ACA through taxation, that’s fair and patriotic. Everyone gets Medicare and Social Security. Why not pay it forward? It’s the American way. We were always a generous people.

7. What is being proposed is a wealth transfer to the already wealthy. The government saves $880Billion by destroying people’s lives and the wealthier among us get a Trillion Dollar savings? The deficit decreases only because citizens obtain less coverage and those who don’t need the money benefit. If we’re worried about the deficit remind me to show you how I can generate Revenue and decrease the deficit without targeting taxation only to  the most affluent.  For example, “we” could  consider taxing (6 basis points) Derivatives, which I consider “a weapon of mass destruction”; Joseph Stiglitz approved this concept and I’m sure Charlie Munger would, too!

8. Fix the ACA don’t repeal it and replace it with Mitch McConnel’s Draconian alternative. Look upon the ACA as a work in progress. Ask all the States to send representatives to congress who have experience administrating the plan. Let the States learn from each other and implement programs that encourage prevention and quality of life. You can’t leave the sickest most vulnerable individuals without proper access to Healthcare. Some one asked me today, on my Periscope program, Joyce America Speaks , if Healthcare was in the Constitution? It isn’t . However, how can an individual pursue their right to life, liberty and happiness , if they are suffering , in pain or dead?

9. Stabilize the ACA and move forward with improvements. Reinstate the monies to fund labs looking at economic and Technological improvements.

10. Reinstate funding for valuable drug counseling programs and colonoscopies, women’s and children’s health issues.

11. Allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. I know many Middle Class elderly who rely on Medicare and Meals on wheels. They are retired school teachers, they have no funds to pay for medications , food, and insurance policies. They can’t be burdened with extra costs , they have no extra funds.

12. If the Congress really wanted to save money, they could expand Medicare for everyone. The system is in place and it works. The insurance companies could be maintained as well. I know, I have supplemental healthcare.

13. To my knowledge , this is only a rudimentary wish list, it can be expanded. I’m gaining more insight by listening to webinars by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.   Their last Broadcast on Technology titled “Technology , is it hurting or helping Healthcare”? Espouses a National Medical Database. It would facilitate patient care. I know about that too! When I had hip revision I was first admitted to Cornell Weill emergency , for a dislocated hip. My X-rays were transferred when I took them with me to the Hospital for Special Surgery. They’re connected to each other by a bridge , yet it is a bridge too far. Want to hear another absurdity, Cornell emergency wanted to transfer me via ambulance to HSS . They’re 200 ft apart. I refused and they wheeled me over on a gurney!

14. I believe you have a heart and you are your own person . Stand up for “we the people”, because you know it’s right. Be just. God Bless you.

If ever you wish to chat. I’m willing to take a trip to Washington, DC. I’m passionate about the well being of “we the People” and understand that”Politics affects US”!
Wishing you only the best

I remain respectfully yours, “the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”.

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am. Late Stage Capitalism! Time to strike! Or allow the Market Society to persist at your peril!

June 21, 2017

Late Stage Capitalism is producing inferior products and despairing low productivity employees. The consequences: “we the People ” are paying for the despair of others and their poor workmanship with our lives.

In war we don’t appear to be excelling. We used to, not now. We can’t protect our selves from the enemy. I can’t imagine what happened to our ship off the coast of Japan? Why did it suffer severe damages and loss of life?

IN NYC subway systems, the “old” cars lasted generations. The new ones  have massive electrical failures. Not even the conductors can control the path and speed of the trains. Being stranded with no power has  become a routine occurrence. Why? Where are the folks, the computers and the signaling devices tracking the subway system? What happened to preventive maintenance? Accountability? Short term thinking , using budgeted funds irresponsibly , is costing people their jobs and shortening their life as they breathe stale air underground.

Our Healthcare dilemma has taken many forms. It’s failing ordinary Americans because those in power are literally against any healthcare coverage , period. They don’t see the necessity to maintain a healthy populace and only believe you should have catastrophic care. They’re out of touch with reality. They don’t know the facts. In South Korea the average life span is 105 yrs because they have a National Healthcare system that caters to ” hypochondriacs”. Some things can not be privatized. Healthcare deserves to be a single payer system where everyone benefits and the Uber wealthy can buy into “boutique ” practices as a choice.  Until then, guarantee subsidies to the Insurance Companies allowing them  to maintain a competitive edge .  Re write the Law for Big Pharma price negotiations.  Stabilize our existing ACA then move forward in a Bipartisan way in 2 years.

Meanwhile, too many of us , part of the once comfortable lower upper Class, are supporting family members who are part of the long term unemployed. This should be the job of Government. Congress and previous generations of legislators who knew we would have an employment crisis and did nothing for 30 yrs. “We the People ” do not have enough resources to support our children and grandchildren. Our State of Inequality must be reversed. Or most of us will have a Sophie’s choice of putting food on the table for our selves or the rest of the family.

Let’s take back our Country sooner rather then later. A National strike beginning July 4 th is sounding more appealing every day!

Joyce:America Speaks Periscope @11am Monday : Enough is enough! Let’s unite to seek Common Ground

June 19, 2017

Why should we the people remain hostage to bad policy ?

Trump does nothing to help we the people or his base.  80% of Americans do not want the ACA repealed and replaced.   Negotiate with the Insurance Companies, assure them of subsidies , lift the law limiting negotiations by Medicare on Big Pharmaceutical Corporations and “Fix”  the ACA .   Make it more affordable! It’s like us , a work in progress.  Anyone in Congress will get the Glory for making the ACA a quality healthcare product at less costs.

In the normal course of events we’d talk to each other irrespective of our differences. I understand  and don’t support the intensity of hatred between Democrats and Republicans.   Denial of good policy to hurt your opponent makes no sense. It makes no sense to have winner take all politics. In fact, it harms all of us!
Destruction of a previous administrations policies, for the sake of claiming victory for one group ,over another , makes no sense. Politics affects our lives. It isn’t a “blood” sport with a winning team.

We can vote out bad policy, by voting out all of the people’s representatives who act  in the interests of their benefactors instead of in the interests of we the people.   We have to ask, what happened to Statesmanship?  and the  concept of achieving  Common Ground?

Hopefully, Trump and his administration and their enablers will be voted out of office. Some may be impeached. None of these actions can come soon enough for me! I’ve never felt this way before.   The lies spread to demean and disenfranchise people are an unconscionable representative of folks no longer concerned with the unity of our Nation.  Sad, so sad and destructive.

I champion the right of the Center to exist. I champion civility and espouse decent common sense bipartisan policy.   In this age of transparency, those who hide from us and their peers, shows me they are up to no good. Enough is enough.

Let’s go for Impeachment and elect me as the People’s President, sooner rather then later. I promise to stock the cabinet with a bipartisan diverse group of experts.
If you’re with me, tell your Congressman we want to Impeach and remove as many reactionaries & Trump cronies as possible. We want to move our Country forward with real, not Trumped up , jobs. We support the center and seek common ground.

The sooner we remove this group of do nothing’s , the sooner America can get back to restoring our economy and jobs. We want revenue not tax cuts. Let’s unite for the greater good. Together we can work toward eliminating our state of Inequality.

JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am Monday Wake up America, we’re being boiled alive like Frogs!

June 11, 2017

What’s the difference between us and the Russians? They don’t care about politics or politicians, as long as they have an apartment, a good paying job and food. They’ve withstood life under the czars, the Revolution, Stalin, and now Putin. The Russian people are ok as long as their lifestyle remains untouched. Tamper with their right to life, liberty and their pursuit of happiness and the Russian people will not tolerate their governments lack of concern for their rights.  Take away the apartments of 1.6 million Muscovites and they take to the streets.

They’re different then us. We are consumed with Politics and politicians and quietly accept our fate, like frogs boiling slowly.    Otherwise, how can you explain our denial of the facts. American rights have been eroding since the 80’s,  yet most of us didn’t realize the harm done to us till recently.   Some still believe in the “goodness” and capability of Donald Trump and his Administration.  They’re accepting the Party line.   They deny their reality and believe with all their heart , as he continues to destroy our Institutions and degrade the rights of labor , that he will produce “good” paying jobs for them.

One has to wonder why are Americans so tolerant? The rest of the World appears to be demanding an end to cronyism and corruption,  while we accept it and shrug  off it’s effects at our peril.  Our economy is not improving.   Wages are stagnant.  Good paying jobs at the management level are non existent.

Wake up America! We’re being swindled. The alt right will not stop their crusade against the poor and the Middle Class till we’ve all taken to the streets or we’re dead. Stop deluding yourselves, change is slow.  I understand. After 9 yrs of being patient myself,  I realize there are no white knights to save us.   I was hoping for a 3 rd Party to emerge and that never happened either.

I am now my own advocate for change. Enough is enough. Bills are passing the House that make my hair curl and few say anything. Every decent Congressman on both sides of the aisle should be denouncing these assaults on “we the People”. I hear some opposition on the GOP side but not many. We need real dissent to counter this extreme agenda. We need centrists.

I’m no politician and I will encourage decency no matter who says they stand with the American people. Everyone else should get out of our way as we advocate for Legislation that improves the lives of the poor and the Middle Class.  I’ll detail how to generate revenue on Periscope at 11am.

Together we can build an America for the 22 nd Century.  Wake up and join me before we’re boiled alive, ” just like the Frogs”.

See you at 11am and we’ll chat.  More to follow.  Other thoughts to be published tomorrow.  Have a great night.

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am President Trump and the definition of Chutzpah!

June 9, 2017

What’s an illustration of Chutzpah , Donald Trump stating he is one of the righteous and  he’s  an injured “ingenue” at the same time.   Sorry, you’re not the injured party.   Not now!    You stated exactly what you  wanted  Comey to do,  stop the Flynn investigation!  When Comey, failed to take your advice,  you “fired” FBI Director Comey .  How are you different from Nixon? There is no need to raise your voice when a rhetorical statement will do?  I know, I use them all the time.

Therefore, I’m incredulous, when you claim you’re a victim and act like a despot.  No,  President Trump you are not naive. Your affiliations with Russia go back 30 yrs. Ditto for some of your cronies.

Have you forgotten about that vacant Hotel you built in the Ukraine for a deposed despot? Have you forgotten about Edward Prince’s overtures to the Russians on your behalf in the Seychelles? You remember Edward Prince, Blackwater? Betsy De Vos’ brother?

So many links, not leaks, are the problem. The net is so wide and deep, I fear all your cronies, including Pence, and Paul Ryan will go down with you!

The skeptical public  sees through your lies.   However, you can still do right by “we the People, while awaiting charges for “obstruction of Justice” , by really being among the righteous.  I’ve listed a few items on the People’s wish list.

We the People want Healthcare. It’s your fault insurance companies are pulling out of the Affordable Healthcare program. They’ve been asking for certainty and you have remained silent. Untie the hands of decent men and women in Congress and stop millions from suffering. Extend the ACA through 2019 and let Congress work on the necessary next steps to assure quality cost effective healthcare for the multitudes. This act of kindness has nothing to do with the Russian Connections and would certainly cast you as “righteous” in this instance.

While you’re claiming righteousness, stop the rhetoric on Infrastructure and jobs and start creating them for “we the People”. If training is involved, why not post job openings for high school kids. I can think of many ways for you to be righteous, I haven’t seen you choose one!

Sad, so sad! You deserve your business and “We the People” deserve a President. In your case, it is either , or!!!

” the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am I understand myself and I see you. It isn’t either or , it’s US.  We have a choice!

June 7, 2017

We have choices. We may be too scared to choose them! I understand. We , everyone of us , chooses our own path to follow!

I’m 74 yrs old. If someone had said to me 10 yrs ago, that I’d be planning to run for the Presidency of the United States and enroll in Silver Sneakers, I’d have thought they were dreaming . Those two plans are ” in the works”, as “we” say. If you know me, you’ll understand my fear, my self doubts and my tenacity to persevere and make my plans reality.

For one choice , I’ve made a passionate commitment on my own , realizing that the actualization of my dream requires you,  my dear followers and a SuperPAC dedicated to supporting me , my passion for understanding our World  and my desire  to visit our planet and our Country , America, all 50 States.

My second choice is easier, I merely have to walk a few blocks, pay $18/a month for a supplement to my United Health Care plan , choose a few exercise programs tailored to my physical requirements and start exercising.

One goal I control 100%. The 2 nd one depends upon you, my dear followers and those who have yet to join our Revolution.   We don’t destroy systems, we fix them, one “tweak” at a time. We’re human, we don’t do perfection, we do fixing , trail and error and move forward. Some times it’s a giant step for man and a small step for mankind. It’s what we do, moving forward, slowly perhaps and deliberately,   to get to that giant step  forward for mankind too!

Since I’ve had time to think, I’ve used my time trying to understand myself and as an added bonus, I see you too! I have empathy for you, my followers, the advantaged and the disadvantaged.

Those with funds need to understand the many who are struggling to survive.   “We the People” were  stronger and more fearless before the Recession wiped out most of our more aggressive and confident traits. Sad, very sad. I understand the less fortunate because I have seen their decent into worthlessness first hand. I know their struggle to survive and feel compelled to give a helping hand and the encouragement to assure the successful return of dignity to someone in need.

With compassion, the less fortunate can find a way forward, too. If not entirely out of poverty,  with self confidence and a return of dignity anyone can take responsibility for themselves and make a choice to move forward or stay in place.   Either is a choice.  Both require the inner knowledge that the choice is available to be made.  Then,   It’s up to “the State” to provide the Social Safety Net and job growth “we the People” require to survive well!

The very wealthy have similar choices to make. They can remain wrapped in the comfort of their wealth, devoid of all empathy for others, or they can exercise their choice to be their brother’s keeper and move forward in our World, trying something new. Not perfect.

New ideas, in fields to numerous to detail once again,  to be improved upon and with out destroying what was. The recognition that we have the power to move forward taking baby steps, is enough to begin our conscious effort into creating the next phase of our Technological advance into the 22 nd Century.

We have a choice. We can sit back and acknowledge our misery or we can take small steps toward creating a better America and a better global community.

It takes one person to see themselves and those we love first. Then we can scale up our new found empathy to help each other, one person at a time.
See you at 11 am when we’ll continue our chat.

“The heart and pulse of the Middle Class “. All inclusive, no one left out! See yourself and dream big!

JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am Where is your Compassion, sir?

May 26, 2017

Where is your compassion ? I’ve heard several arguments on NPR in defense of the GOP ACA replacement. I don’t agree with their logic for the following reasons.

Supporters of Trumpcare :

If I have a pre existing condition , I won’t burden the population at large , I will pay for it myself!

My argument against this premise:

If I don’t have the money to pay for my disease , I will suffer and die sooner. Or, if I’m lucky, perhaps I could join a high risk insurance pool, pay more, choose between food and insurance costs and die sooner.
This line of thinking is a lose lose for  the poor, the Middle Class and especially the elderly.  It would also decrease the marketplaces that service “we the People”:  the Insurance market , the hospitals and the Pharmaceutical Industry.  If people have no funds to purchase Healthcare everyone loses.

There’s more! Shifting the burden of Medicaid on to the States and depending on the State’s largess to grant Medicaid on a person by person basis as each person is evaluated for their ability to work.  Sounds like a daunting task.  Who decides?  Who selects and assures that good paying jobs and retraining, if requires, are provided immediately.  How would this program be phased in?

Some states and communities have pockets of economic prosperity and devastation. Who do you reward with Medicaid?   How many well paying jobs are really available?  Will you now have more working poor with limited access to healthcare?  Will you look away when they die? Who will support your next candidacy , if you keep whittling away at the electorate? I ask you all, how can you leave your disparate despairing constituents without healthcare and decent well paying jobs?

Then, Ask yourselves? , How many of the folks remaining , who are young , will vote for this mean spirited approach to Healthcare? Then ask, how many who are earning $150,000 and above constitute the majority of the electorate?

This is a death knell, not just for “we the people”, but for those in support of this bill. The pendulum always swings away from extremes. Be careful what you wish for.

  • In the meantime, please reassure the Insurance Companies that their subsidies remain for next year. The least everyone can do is safeguard our system of care while the debate continues.
