Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am Doing nothing is not an option! America needs work!

I am irate! Why? Events and problems I thought were solved remain in Limbo.
Insurance companies still don’t have assurances from our government that they’re being paid. This is cruel to everyone: the Corps. , the hospitals , Doctors and” we the People”.
Infrastructure is not being done on a grand scale because States have no excess cash. Since, they are struggling to pay their Medicaid bills, a normal on going costs, there is no money left over for infrastructure. . Toll roads and gas taxes have been proposed and these additional taxes would further burden the working poor and Middle Class.
The stock market rises based on the assumption there will be tax cuts and deregulation of many industries. Irrational exuberance perhaps once again, as Bankers and Pundits close their eyes to the gathering Financial Bubbles.

Meanwhile , Eric Prince reemerges to save Afghanistan , this time with a provisional government ? What does he know about Nation Building? I still remember Blackwater’s stain on Iraq. No matter, his men were recently acquitted for murder. We don’t need his mercenaries for hire in Afghanistan, the Afghanis will hate us more then they do now. Afghanistan wants Americans out of their Country.

Since WWll we have intervened in civil wars costing millions of lives on all sides. What have we accomplished? Why persist? We should be looking inward to repair our own decaying infrastructure.

We should stop whining and start solving problems. Step one would be to lower the Corporate tax rate to 28-22% and close all loopholes. Collect taxes from Corporations and use those taxes for improving our Country. We can tax  their Corporate Foreign subsidiaries at 15%. That would take some of the pressure off of the States. As I’ve stated before,  there are other ways to raise revenue. We’ve seen the affects of tax cuts on Corporate America. Tax cuts increase individual salaries at the top leaving American workers either jobless or underemployed. No more tax cuts. We are stretched too thin as it is!

In my own City, I found it disturbing that the most crowded subway lines in the City, The #4,#5, &#6  trains could add 10 extra trains to relieve congestion on the Lexington Avenue Lines.  What’s the reasoning behind underutilization of serviceable trains? Why now? Today a story in the NY Times, clarified “our” problem.  Lack of funds.  DeBlasio has proposed a targeted tax on singles and families earning $250,000 and $1,000,000.  A 7% tax increase, similar to my proposal to raise the income level on payroll deductions , would raise approximately $800 Billion  annually, enough to fix our ailing subways.   Subway Transportation is critical infrastructure in this City , we need it on time and reliable.  We need it now, not in 10 years.  Finally, a method suggested that does not tax the working poor and the Middle Class.

Another day , another problem and sometimes a solution.  There are many solutions. Who will legislate them and make Americans’ daily lives less stressful and more productive is the issue?     Doing nothing is not an option.  Infrastructure in our Country is so poorly maintained , the Public is at risk.

The Voice of Joyce: What Caused Inequality? Tax Cuts! Read on & we’ll chat Wednesday @11am on Periscope!

Inequality! What caused inequality in our country? How is it possible, with all the unequivocal facts facing Congress, they are still advocating corporate tax cuts and deregulation for big business, and even more personal tax cuts for the wealthy. Their proposals boggle my mind.

Tax cuts for Big Business and tax evasion by the wealthy over the last 30+ years have been the true causes of our State of inequality. Our country’s men and women have suffered at the hands of a greedy few who have had no intention of sharing their profits with average Americans, “We the People”.

Another example of this greed is the latest deal Trump has made with Foxconn, the Chinese Industry noted for LED’s, was lured to Wisconsin to satisfy Trump’s political supporters, Speaker Paul Ryan and Governor Scott Walker and has the potential to cost Wisconsin taxpayers $230K per employee. Wisconsin doesn’t need this new employer , skilled employees will have to be relocated from neighboring states, since Wisconsin unemployment is low!? Ohio, Texas, New York competed for Foxconn, however, Trump made this deal to reward specific political cronies, the rest of us, don’t matter to Trump! The jobs will be allocated by Trump for the few that follow him.

When do we say “enough bad policy”. Americans are entitled to a living wage. First , Congress took away our homes , during the Great Recession of 2008, by changing the Bankruptcy laws to accommodate the Banks ! It’s obvious in our Country, Big Business, the Banks and Wall Street profits come before the needs of Main Street, “We the People”. Adding insult to injury, College education, though highly regarded, is not available to most students without incurring Student Debt, that can almost never be paid off? Many of our young people have been saddled with huge student debt and minimally paying jobs. Other Americans have become underemployed, making it impossible for most to make a living wage without working 2-3 jobs. Now when most average Americans don’t have a savings account or enough money put away to sustain them for 6 months, Republicans in Congress are still talking about tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the poor and middle class.

Raise your voices high when the Federal Budget is introduced. Congress & Trump looked at Healthcare as easy pickings to shave off billions at the expense of the poor and middle class. That didn’t work, thanks to McCain, Collins and Murkowski, three brave moderate Republicans who voted with Democrats to save the ACA. Undaunted, Congress will try to defund our safety nets by cutting the Federal Budget. Don’t let them succeed. We don’t need more tax cuts!

What we do need is a National Federal Infrastructure program that puts millions to work at good paying jobs; a program that crosses America and benefits all Americans, lifting them up out of poverty, breaking the non compete clauses, the arbitration clauses and whatever lawyer gimmicks holds us back from earning a living wage and upward mobility! Continue to advocate for our rights. We cannot be silent in the face of tyranny.

Our children and our grandchildren need us to speak out on their behalf. Democracy demands that we request the ability to pursue life liberty and happiness too! Advocate and run for office now. “We the People” can no longer vote Party Lines or choose to not vote, instead, we must choose to support candidates for government who support the goals of the poor and middle class.

What has caused inequality? Asked and answered. Tax cuts for Big Business and tax evasion created through bad policy has left us with a State of Inequality”. We can change our society to become more fair and equitable, but it will take the voices of 360 million of us.

See you Wednesday and we’ll chat!

“The heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

The Voice of Joyce: Why is productivity low? I have the answer! Clue: don’t blame “We the People” !

For too long, We the People have listened to the experts telling us what’s good for the economy and how to improve productivity.  Only one journalist and I agree with him,  Neil Irwin,  stated in his column in the Times,  ” poor productivity would increase when wages improved”.  Is anyone listening?  Low productivity is correlated with low wages.

Did you ever own your own business?  If you had, you would have realized that if you worked with your employees, made them feel part of your team, they produced for you.  I know.  I was an employer, first in large multinational corporations, then in my own contracting business.  I paid good salaries for quality work. We were customer-service oriented.  When a job was scheduled, it was installed and finished.  It didn’t matter if we installed single apartments or an apartment house. The materials were always cut and ready for installation. No matter the size of the job, I employed a supervising foreman, and we did it right the first time!

Today’s labor is given boring repetitive jobs to perform for little pay. Most employees have to work 2-3 jobs to pay their bills. We already know very few in the middle class have 6 months’ savings on hand. Yet, what do I hear?  Business needs “certainty” to invest. That is a “crock of s***t”.  For nine years we’ve coddled Big Business and what have we gotten? The answer is zero investment in America and Americans, stagnant wages, non compete clauses, and competition from imported foreign workers.  As businesses merge, the American worker has no place to go to for upward mobility. Monopolies and crony capitalism have stifled the American worker.

You don’t have to look far to see the toll of selfish greed on the faces of Americans.  We don’t even have affordable quality healthcare though we manufacture the best imaging devices in the world?  Why is productivity low? Asked and answered!  Why has this occurred? We have given Big Business tax breaks; we have encouraged Big Business to increase their cash hoard by investing overseas.  No one has told business to stop investing in the American worker.  No one has told Big Business to stop rewarding executives and to stop buybacks.  Except for Gretchen Morgenson, there has been very little chastisement of industry practices, which are anti-American.  If Big Business had confidence in themselves, they would invest in their manpower and their product.  While the rest of the world is emerging from recession, we are digging ourselves right back into hard times.

No need to wonder why people are in despair. They are overworked, overlooked and underemployed. They are also saddled with student loan debt. The list of ” We the People’s ” burdens is long. When and who will give Americans the relief from misery and poverty that is long overdue?

See you at 11am Monday and we’ll chat. ,

JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am China invests $1 Trillion in Europe, Asia & Africa. What is America doing ?

Where are we today? According to the Financial Times the US lags behind in infrastructure development and GDP even as China ambitiously moves forward with a trillion dollar investment to develop Europe, Asia and Africa’s aging infrastructure.  China will give these nations the cash they need to build their roads, bridges and transportation hubs. Iran will become the hub for all of these programs, duplicating the “Silk Road ” of the Ancient World.

While we are unable to agree on infrastructure programs for our nation or acknowledge the individual needs of our States, the rest of the world is improving their own infrastructures and creating new businesses.

By uniting we can change our story, too! We have the money and the resources in America to develop our own infrastructure. It may be too late for this year. However, in six months every state should be capable of identifying their critical infrastructure.
With help from “We the people”, America can develop and target funds for massive infrastructure rebuilding.  Don’t let Congress propose tax cuts for the wealthy, when we want more, not less of the economic pie!  To get there, I propose creating the following data banks, call your representatives, and run for local, state and federal office.

They say millions of jobs exist.  Prove it!  Where is that database I’ve been requesting for 4 yrs?  We need:

  • A national jobs data bank
  • A National Apprentice program starting in Junior High School
  • Corporate America should be publishing their Job openings along with salary expectations and their requirements for technical skills.

“I’m from Missouri, I need to see job listings I can believe in!”  If Americans are going to compete against the global economy, we should decide if we want to carve out our own niche or become the most educated quality and customer- dedicated employee on the planet. Take the 90-day challenge: Advocate or run for office.

We are not a country of followers; we are a country of doers!  If we don’t work or plan now for the next 40 yrs, we will truly lag behind in the world.  Advocate for change now. Start running for local government today.  I met several potential Council women and one local Congressman.  Donald Trump’s horrendous disregard for the American working class has motivated decent folks to run for government office.  He’s done the same for the ACA – made it popular!  Don’t worry, we’re not going to let anyone take away our entitlements. We will raise our voices and stop the partisan rhetoric coming out of Washington and replace it with solid requests for jobs and a basic safety net.

Quantative Easing for the middle and lower classes is beginning to sound more reasonable every day. Especially when I hear that so many lack savings for emergencies. Why not use $1.7 trillion of the $4.5 trillion the Fed holds in bonds to cut a $12,000 check for each of the 154 Million poor and middle class American families? The time to do something is now. Americans have waited 9 years for a positive change in the economy. How many more years are we prepared to wait?

In the next few weeks, I’ll be seeking endorsements for my campaign and placing a solicitation for funds on CrowdPac!
See you at 11 am dear followers.

“The heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am Monday :Trump, Russia, ACA debate, Debt Ceiling & Tax Cuts ! Issues to solve in a bipartisan Congress!

We.are.in.crisis.mode.  If Trump and Congress fail to act in August, the ACA and 13 million people may suffer immediately. As the August deadline approaches, Congress should immediately reinstate the following ACA POLICES to maintain competitiveness in the insurance marketplace.

  1. The Individual Mandate:  All consumers, including young healthy people, should enroll and pay it forward. You never know when you will require medical care or medical care for a loved one.  Wouldn’t you want to know that you had helped to deliver less expensive health care to your family through your generosity?  Wouldn’t you want your kids to do the same for you when you’re older?  Pay it forward.  It will make you feel better!   More importantly, studies have shown that we must start preventive health care early in our lives.  Parents should take their child in for annual pediatric and young child checkups through the teen years.  Unlike other countries that practice preventive care, we generally do not and as a consequence our health outcomes have been considerably lower.  And an additional bonus, when you have healthcare coverage under the ACA, preventive care is free!
    • Pay it forward…I did that yesterday. Standing outside a NYC theater with no cabs in sight, I was approached by a woman requesting to share a ride. Sure I said, though she went to Chelsea and I went to Lincoln Center. She paid the cost of her round trip and I made a new friend! It was a win-win for both of us.
  2. The Insurance Subsidies:  Insurance Companies are paid through July ONLY. They must be renegotiated this August. Congress should use this time wisely to add multiple carriers to every State.
  3. Advertising for the new member enrollment in November should be occurring now to assure ease of enrollment through a greater understanding of exchange availability in all States.  As we speak, the Dept of HHS has taken down all advertising sites for the ACA.  Why should  such mean-spiritedness be occurring.  88% of Americans want the ACA.  Make it accessible for sign up and participation in healthcare benefits.

PERISCOPE 7-25-17

If Congress can resurrect a bipartisan bill to sanction Russia, Iran and North Korea, they can cross the aisle once again to benefit the American people.  Congress knows Americans value healthcare, why not come together and agree to work within the existing framework and make a high quality, less costly system for all Americans. This could be a win-win that unites our Country! “We the People” would be proud and happy to know that we do have taxation with representation. The House Bill is far too “mean”, as described by the President himself.  The Senate bill and its revisions do not have enough votes, in addition to the fact that it throws millions off healthcare and has been rejected by a majority of Americans.  Repealing without replacement is also a loser and does not have enough Republican support.

Besides healthcare, Congress is now faced with raising the debt ceiling and creating a budget. They can’t afford to be looking at tax cuts for the wealthy. “We the People” are watching and waiting for pragmatic legislation to emerge.  I hope they don’t let this opportunity pass.  Americans need education, good paying jobs and Infrastructure NOW.  I recognize this is a difficult era for Congress.  However, Americans want to see bipartisan bills helping the poor, the working poor and the middle class.  And it is time this Congress puts their heads together and does the work of bipartisanship!

I don’t believe the Country can afford more entitlements for big business and the wealthy.  Welfare for the wealthy has destroyed our country over the last thirty years. We have developed an indolent class, and I’m not referring to the poor!  The wealthy have ceased being creative and have blocked the creation of new industries.  They’ve become content to take their cash and do nothing.  That’s not good enough for “We the people”, not when the need is so great: jobs, healthcare, housing, and national infrastructure investment.

How many in Congress are ready to tax the wealthy and create a Society that is fair and equitable?  It’s time to dedicate all our efforts toward those in our country who are less well off, the poor, the working poor, and the middle class.  Why not? We have a voice and we’re ready to make choices on our behalf. We now recognize that Politics affects us!

“The heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am Trump’s relentless pursuit of bad policy hurts the middle & lower classes

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. I get it. I certainly made every effort during my professional career to provide adequate healthcare benefits and vacation time for my employees.  I was the CEO; it was my job to provide work for my mechanics. When work was scarce, we worked part time, keeping folks employed at less pay.
When I predicted in 2010 that the economy would not improve , I closed my business with my employees knowledge and encouragement.
That’s life in a small business: persevering against the odds, trying to maintain stability in a chaotic business climate, and surviving as long as possible to maintain our niche.

Contrast my perseverance in small business with the Federal Government’s perseverance on bad health care policy under President Trump.
Mitch McConnell lost support for the Republican health care policy. Fortunately, three women GOP Senators stopped him.  (Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Shelley Moore Capito)   The vote was 48 to 4.  Now McConnell intends to repeal the bill next week, though he doesn’t appear to have the votes to pass.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/18/us/politics/republicans-
obamacare-repeal-now-replace-later.html?smprod=nytcore-iphone&smid=nytcore-iphone-share

The seven-year Republican quest to repeal the Affordable Care
Act seemed to reach a dead end Tuesday, but President Trump
vowed to “let Obamacare fail.”

Trump, whose job approval rating is at 36%, is now so angry that he has no victory on healthcare, he is blaming Democrats for this loss , when Democrats were not even involved in creating the Senate bill, nor were they being counted in the vote!   He intends to “let Obamacare fail” as he stated on all the cable networks yesterday.

The ACA is still intact and only in trouble, if Congress fails to reinstate the individual mandate and the Insurance Subsidies guaranteed under the ACA.  Open enrollment on the exchanges, restarts in November!   New York State is open for business with many insurance companies participating.  However, I’ve just heard from NPR that insurance subsidies are continuing through July, August is up to the Senate to fund?  The uncertainty continues.

If the Senate bill had not been blocked, many Americans would be anticipating increased insurance premiums. Mitch McConnell doesn’t seem to understand what Repeal means for millions: no medical care for serious medical conditions, loss of insurance, cuts to Medicaid, rural hospital closures, and increased emergency room visits. No one is prepared for the ensuing chaos that will unfold. Make no mistake,  millions would be immediately impacted by this thoughtless political move.  Instead,  why not improve the ACA  by initiating minor negotiations with the insurance companies and pharmaceuticals?  The Democrats are eager to offer assistance.

If McConnell were a CEO , he would most likely have been removed for non performance. However, we’re stuck. Not only does he and his coterie of followers intend to Repeal the ACA at some point in time, they are unveiling their Federal Budget next. Get ready as they pursue with vigilance draconian Tax Cuts for the wealthy, increases for Defense and you guessed it, decreases to entitlements;  Social Security and Medicare, disabilities and unemployment insurance.

They are persevering. The same unpopular issues keep coming back to cripple the poor, the working poor, and the middle class.  Let’s not make it easy for those espousing such bad policy. We must advocate for new revenue generation. Tax cuts for the wealthy and big business don’t help us. We know.  We’ve seen that policy play out over the last lost decade of the American worker. Add these bad policies to the authorized influx of 15,000 skilled foreign labor under the H2-b visa and we have a concerted effort to further undermine the American worker.

First, they take away our good paying jobs and send them off shore.  Now,  they are putting our healthcare in jeopardy, and may do the same with our Social Security and Medicare.  And finally, while claiming Americans first, they plan to bring 45% more skilled foreign labor to America to compete with Americans.

Too bad Trump and his administration forgot their business credentials.   Keep your workforce well paid and employed and they’ll perform for you and gladly increase production.   Why increase foreign participation in our workforce, when Americans are unemployed and underemployed?  At record profits, why aren’t American businesses, doing business with the government, tasked with training the American workforce?   In Government, it’s not worthwhile to pursue bad policy, not when you won the election on , America and Americans first!

Joyce AmericaSpeaksPeriscope@11am Trump’s Agenda Stagnation & Low Wages

Dear followers:  Our Agenda for this morning!  Plus a few surprises on the Mid East and Fox News.   I’ll log on @10:58 as usual.  See you later!   JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am Trump’s Agenda brings stagnation and low wages to “We the People”

As Trump’s approval ratings slip in the polls, we Americans are left to ponder this administration’s lack of accomplishments .
Healthcare’s “Better Care”, as envisioned by Senator McConnell , is delayed at least one week, giving time for John McCain to recover from surgery. The CBO score should be announced sometime this week giving credence to this newest Healthcare abomination. Hopefully, this bill will die quietly leaving the GOP no option except the original pragmatic one, necessitating collaborative work with Democrats to stabilize the ACA while lowering insurance and drug costs.

1 SLIDE HEALTH CARE

periscope 7-17-17

Perhaps we’ll get a Congress willing to address the needs of “we the People”. I’m hoping but not hopeful. We still need good paying jobs at all levels of income to reverse job growth underemployment and wage stagnation.

If policy doesn’t change soon, Recession is predicted:  too many bubbles forming, again.   We are in a time of crisis. We can improve our State of Inequality,  if we had the will of the People advocating constantly for a non privatized major national infrastructure and transportation program.

While dreaming, I’d wish for more money to the States and Federal Government for Opioid addiction and improved education of our kids. I’d support a universal Apprentice program for high school students as well. Why not train kids for future Technology jobs?

If we’d stop denying climate change and embraced mitigation we could be building the infrastructure for coping with the demands of our altered climate. That would produce innovation and new industries too! We can accomplish much,  if there is a will to envision a prosperous America.
While we remain stuck in the past, only the wealthy prosper while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet. This doesn’t have to be our story. We have the power to rewrite our stories, stop electing representatives to Congress , who prefer our deaths rather then propose bipartisan programs that would help us emerge from a lost unprofitable decade. If not now, when ?

We’ve seen the real reason Trump was elected. Big business and the Banks back him to assure that their Party was sustained. Helping the People, sounded nice, but like most campaign promises, it was hot air! It fooled many of “we the People”. We’ve waited and we see no good programs to improve our sorry state of Inequality. Time to wake up and advocate for money on our behalf, too!
Why should  big business , defense , and the banks be entitled to Federal Subsidies?  In addition,  why do the upper classes benefit from massive tax cuts?    It’s time to put the needs of “we the people” first by insisting on a fair and equitable budget.  The  lower and middle class has suffered enough!
