Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am #Resist, March & Disrupt. Congress has to work more and pass “our Legislation “!

April 19, 2017

We don’t want a government run Amok! I’m old school. We speak up for what we know is right.

I love my Country. I love people. I don’t like to be angry or carry vengeance in my heart.  I’m not prepared to dig two graves, one for me or the other  for the one  I hate , so , after soul searching,  I propose the following action plan for the resurrection of  a Bipartisan Congress and ultimately for the American People , especially our dwindling  “MiddleClass” .

We hate Congress working 1/2 a yr. or less ,  “we the people ” could change this dynamic by urging our Congressional representatives to return to work early to perform the people’s work. We want Quality Affordable Healthcare, education for all and a $Trillion Infrastructure program that brings us into the 22 nd Century. Plus clean air and water and a fiscally sound Monetary Policy. How do we ensure their codification into Law? Congress would need to work more hours on the People’s behalf.

if Congress worked more hours on passing good legislation to improve the lives of ” we the People”, they’d be productive on our behalf and earn our respect , especially, if they worked together as a non partisan body.

  • I suggest that several Congressmen & women and Senators go back to work and request that others join them. The Separate houses require a majority to work and Publish Legislation for we the people. See the Constitution Section #5.

Most importantly they should show a willingness to work on behalf of we the people to create an infrastructure program. Not necessarily shovel ready. Solid programs that would unite our country through transportation and IT communication.

Too many rural areas have no means of transportation to their jobs. We need light rail. We need internet connections. Make life easier not harder for our citizens.
Our Country is not founded on cronyism and money for the few. We thrive when our economy resembles a bell curve. There is no trickle down wealth.

Personally I’d rather rely less on the largesse of the wealthy self interested philanthropists and more on the people’s sweat equity to make America greater. We have been bent but we are not beaten. We merely have to act in consort for the Common Good.

Why is the Military successful? Because everyone has everyone else’s back. We the People are successful when we are united. It’s not about Party or political and intellectual silos,  we work best when we work together. We don’t have to play a confrontational game. We need solutions to our state of inequality and many in Congress have written those solutions. Let’s hear them. Let’s vote with our powers at the ballot box and with our phones and computers. This is the first day we work together to take back our Country from special interest groups. It won’t be our last.
A new adventure awaits us! Together!!!!

See you at 11am and let’s talk!

The Voice of Joyce : who’s UnAmerican?

January 16, 2017

America has  many voices  ,  many groups and no central voice. Too many capable men and women walk alone, without political support and  without a strong central message. There should be one. The opposite to the “alt right” and  an “authoritarian” government should be a strong right of center voice with 3 important issues and concerns.

  • Valuing loyalty, family, decency , respect for people who make it the hard way through their skills.   We should protect every group:  an attack on one group should be viewed as an attack on all!  “United we Stand!”
  • Espouse good education
  • Healthcare
  • Work at fair wages for everyone.
    What else is there?

We care about life and living. We care about quality of life.
The simple things. “Life,  liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
We will work hard to achieve that! That’s the American reality.
Anyone who takes it away from us is unAmerican.

Joyce: AmericaSpeaks: Do we support “One Man One Vote”? Support #National Popular Vote Bill , in your State, Now!!! Periscope @11am Monday!

December 4, 2016

Donald Trump said in 2012: “The Electoral College is a disaster for a democracy” and “a total sham and a travesty.”

Realizing that fact;  The Public Citizen, an advocacy group based in Washington, has been supporting “The National Popular Vote Bill, and encouraging citizens to urge their State representatives to vote for this Bill before the Electoral College reconvenes.  Therefore; tell your state legislators to pass the National Popular Vote bill guaranteeing that the candidate receiving the most popular votes in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., will become president.

  • Five out of our 45 presidents have come into office without receiving the most popular votes nationwide.

State winner-take-all laws are the reason why a candidate can win the presidency without winning the national popular vote. Under these state laws, all of a state’s electoral votes are awarded to the candidate receiving the most popular votes in each separate state. We are in an era of close presidential elections (the average margin in the national popular vote being only 5% since 1988). If these state laws are not changed, there will likely be more presidential elections in which this undemocratic outcome recurs.

These state winner-take-all laws create another problem in every election. The vast majority of voters get ignored because candidates campaign only in a handful of closely divided “battleground” states. Candidates write off states where they are hopelessly behind. They take for granted states where they are safely ahead.

  • Did you know?
There were 399 campaign events in the 2016 general election.
  • Over half (57%) of the events were held in just 4 states (Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Ohio).
  • Virtually all (94%) of the events were in just 12 states (containing only 30% of the country’s population).
  • Fortunately, the U.S. Constitution empowers state legislatures to change the method of awarding electoral votes without amending the U.S. Constitution. Article II says:
“Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors….”
  • Existing state winner-take-all laws may be repealed in the same way they were originally enacted — namely by passage of a new state law by the state legislature. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the states have “exclusive” and “plenary” power to choose the method of awarding their electoral votes.

The “winner-take-all” method of awarding electoral votes is not in the U.S. Constitution. It was not debated by the Constitutional Convention. It was never mentioned in the Federalist Papers. Only three states used winner-take-all in our nation’s first presidential election in 1789 (and all three repealed it by 1800).

Please tell your state legislators to pass the National Popular Vote bill.

  • The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the presidency to the candidate receiving the most popular votes in all 50 states and D.C.
It would make every vote equal throughout the United States. It would ensure that every voter, in every state, is politically relevant in every presidential election.
A national popular vote for president is an achievable political goal that can be in place in time for the 2020 election. The bill already has been enacted into law in 11 states possessing 165 electoral votes. It will take effect when enacted by states possessing a majority of the electoral votes — that is, enough to elect a president (270 of 538). Thus, it will take effect when enacted by additional states having 105 electoral votes. The bill has previously passed one chamber in 12 additional states with 96 electoral votes. It was approved earlier this year by unanimous bipartisan committee votes in two states with an additional 26 electoral votes. A total of 2,794 state legislators have endorsed it.

Recently, the National Popular Vote bill received bipartisan support in a:

  • 40-16 vote in the Republican-controlled Arizona House
  • 28-18 vote in the Republican-controlled Oklahoma Senate
  • 57-4 vote in the Republican-controlled New York Senate
  • 37-21 vote in the Democratic-controlled Oregon House

Under the National Popular Vote bill, the winner will be the candidate receiving the most popular votes in all 50 states and D.C. When the Electoral College meets in mid-December, the national popular vote winner will receive all of the electoral votes of the enacting states. The national popular vote winner will become president because the enacting states represent at least 270 electoral votes. The Electoral College will thus represent the will of the voters in all 50 states and D.C.
Please tell your state legislators to pass the National Popular Vote bill.
Thank you for taking action today!  Thank you Robert Weissman, President of Public Citizen for this empowering information!  (© 2016 Public Citizen • 1600 20th Street, NW / Washington, D.C. 20009 )

#The Voice of Joyce: our 3 rd Choice forget Hillary v Trump

July 13, 2016

The two parties have crowned their candidates. For sure the Democratic Party is united behind Hilary Clinton, an accomplished ” blast from the past”. She was outdated in 2008 and she is outdated today. She has no vision for America or Americans. We already know she is one of the elite group, above the Law.
Trump’s appealing quality, to some, not to me, is he’s outside Politics? Which may or may not be true. What do we know about him? He skirts the law to achieve personal wealth. He was given his start by his father and parlayed it cleverly into ” real” money? How many Billions , we don’t know, he hasn’t released his tax returns. And yes, in a time of America’s saddest hours, following the murder of two African Americans, followed by the slaughter of 5 policeman, what does Trump, propose? Not a coming together of Americans to heal all wounds, not a single request for shared acknowledgement of the pain of hate crimes. No, he proclaims he’s for “Law and Order”.   He has no empathy for all hurt parties in these dreadful incidents.
His rhetoric is not what people in America want. I know I’ve asked and received at least 400 comments from 500 folks across America with 1000’s of followers, who tuned in respectfully to discuss Race in America on Periscope @ 11 am on 7/11 & 7/12, this week. We are all frustrated with Society and our lack of mental health availability and the lack of good paying jobs. We are frustrated by pro profit prisons, that make money by jailing young Black and Hispanic kids. And as if, warehousing our youth is not sufficient revenue, we are frustrated and angered, that our government provides Tax Exemptions to these  entities.
We can learn from Germany about incarceration, we can be humane, but our Laws have been skewed to favor profit over people.

When do we as a people say it’s enough! When do we start forming a third party that reflects America and American wishes. So far, I’ve provided a blueprint for a way forward but without you, the newly proposed GOP and we the people to vote existing hacks and do nothing’s out of Congress and local politics, we are destined to suffer four more years or more. You can follow me and support me and or we can prevail upon decent folks in the Republican Party to support us, ” we the People”.
We want a safe, energized, innovative, prosperous America for all Americans. I can no longer be soothing to my listeners and followers, because I want to see a call for action. If a newly configured Republican Party emerges, I’m happy to join, as long we are guaranteed a fiscally responsible government, working all year to pass new laws that overturn our State of Inequality. That means changing Laws to provide Fiscal and Corporate Tax reforms.
We need the revenue from these revenue streams to assure progress is made on Social programs , too! Clean water and air, better medical and mental health programs, education affordable for all, apprenticeships, equal Justice for all through a Reformed Justice program. We are asking for a lot, but not more then a proactive President, Vice President and Congress can give. Personnel is policy and a President’s cabinet is capable of providing change with proper leadership.
Is anyone willing to help me be elected or elect folks who will make our wishes into Law? A new Republican Party, formed by two former Presidents’ Bush and John McCain, I’d join them to craft policy that works for “We the People”. Why not? Otherwise our choice will be the lessor of evils , Trump or Clinton . No choice at all, I for one do not want to gamble with our lives that the next four years will be better. Politics effects Us!
Let’s choose to work with them and give our fledgling Party the solutions required for America’s continued success!
I wish to acknowledge with sincere appreciation for their unwavering support , my son Edward, my closest friends Wray Gunn , Fran and Chad Debordeau and Rita Sklar. I also wish to acknowledge the many decent Republicans I’ve met on my journey: Dr. Steven and Diane Bailey, Henry Schreiber, Ronny Parr, Marion and Mimi Rich, Didi and David Gilbert, and Marc Richards.   Plus my new friends Susie Solomon, Sandy Mellis, Mary Alice Horan, Linda Larigan Cooper,  Leah Smith Morgan and so many others. I do hope none of you wished to remain anonymous? Too late, I am forever grateful and in your debt.

The Voice of Joyce: Trump v Clinton : Our choice?

July 13, 2016

Dear followers:

The incrementalism of Hillary Clinton nor the inflammatory rhetoric of Donald Trump is not the palliative ,  for our troubles. Their constituents have valid concerns, though differing from each other.  However, since platforms are guidelines, without the Political will their constituents will continue to suffer!

Many are accepting our “new normal”, though the”gig economy” may be exacerbating  society’s ills.  No one has relief from stress.  Our Nation ranks #19th in Social Progress in the World.  Is it any wonder that the African American community is suffering from slaughter by guns?   They can be murdered by their own weapons or the weapons of others. The Men in Blue have problems, too!  Many of their behavioral problems could have been resolved decades ago according to President Herbert Walker Bush.  Like everything else in America, we have sat in denial that our system of Laws have eroded along with our institutions.  Do we need and respect the Men in Blue, you bet.  Can all of us do better to decrease racial tensions, you bet!  This week we’re crying for all lives taken for hateful reasons.  We are mostly a Nation of decent caring folks,  we need a release from the pressures put upon us.

We need space and a little bit of happiness with ourselves and our society, to let our better “Angels” surface.  God willing , we will work hard to re-establish our family of man and enjoy the Peace of mind and prosperity so many crave.

Yesterday, I read several articles in the NY Times that gave me hope for our future.   (Note:  I’ll attach them separately several days after these Blog Posts.)  Good and decent men, want to recreate the Republican Party in the Image of Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.  We’ll join you, if you want us.  I speak for my self and my social media community; “the voice of Joyce & America Speaks.US.”   .

It’s time to re-look at America, broken, but fixable and help us rebuild America for all Americans.  Everyone can benefit, even the Elites!  We the people just want our fair share and equal opportunity!

We have choices.  Politics effects US!
