JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11 am Wednesday Hate crimes and violent assembly should be punished by the Rule of Law! Remember Oklahoma, remember Charlottesville, These People are waiting for the next violent encounter and our death!

Dear followers, two statements were made on Periscope on Monday that I’d like to address :

Huey stated that he went to  Charlottesville to protest with a white Jewish guy and an “off the rack white guy”, your average guy, well meaning, who likes and respects people. That’s as it should. be. There is no ” the other”, we are all ” the other”!  Except for the Native Americans, there are no indigenous Americans. We are all foreigners in our Land.

We’ve survived for 200 yrs as a Democracy.  We have fought for our civil liberties ,  though the pace of change has clearly not been fast enough for many and too fast for a few.  As a Democracy,  we live by the Rule of Law and  respect the progress we’ve made in civil rights , marriage equality for the  LGBTQ community, and accessibility for people with disabilities.  We’ve come a long way and have more to do!   We have  been guaranteed our right to protest, to peacefully assemble and to respect each other’s rights to free speech. But we must not take our inalienable rights for granted. Nor can we stand idly by as one group or another is oppressed.

I’ve spent several hours reading about racism in America today and watching the Vice Review of the tragic events in Charlottesville.  Besides the alt right protestors, I watched in amazement as the Charlottesville Police stood back from the crowd.  Like the rest of us, they watched the violence unfold.  More than that, I question why large public gatherings are not free from traffic?  And why were protestors  allowed to carry and/or conceal weapons in the Public Square?   It appears that home grown terrorists are adopting “ISIS-like”  tactics and using cars or trucks as weapons of destruction.

Unfortunately for America,  when white supremacists congregate in a Public Square, there is a potential, in fact a desire, for violence.  All access to “peaceful” assembly should be blocked to vehicles.  This should now be SOP (standard operating procedure).

Second, I think we as a nation must re-examine our First Amendment rights. Some of the neo-nazis present came from as far away as Canada to march with the white supremacists and vent their hatred of  Jews, African Americans, and other minorities. I think it is time to legislate against violent hate speech in this country and outlaw hate speech and death threats,  like they’ve done in Canada and Germany and other countries who have experienced the  violent aftermath of these marches and worse.

For many “loners,  ” White supremacist Marches makes them feel more powerful when they join these groups or act out in their name. I think Charlottesville has shown us that David Duke and his followers came looking for violence and promised the Vice reporter that more blood would be shed as they planned other marches. We have been forewarned, these groups intend to wait and then step up the violence they intend to perpetrate.   Stop David Duke and those like him from plotting larger more potentially violent events. They don’t see the dead and injured as people. They think of them as subhuman vermin.    Their behavior and their threat of more violence makes them undesirable in our Public Square.   Ultimately,  I do believe if you want change in this country,  you remove what is unacceptable through Legislation.

Lincoln delayed the ending of the Civil War, in order to codify the Emancipation Proclamation.  Our Civil Rights Laws were changed only after years of African American protests.  However, the March on Washington led by  Dr. Martin Luther King was different.  It was a meticulously planned event, taking  months to  plan.  It was   coordinated through major Legislators and in one technical  emergency, Bobby Kennedy intervened.   The event culminated with Dr Martin Luther King’s , ” I have a dream speech” !  Strategic, meticulous planning made the difference.  First there were the protests and then the demands for equal rights, codified into Law.   It takes many voices to go from protest to culture change to LAW.  This should be our model for change!

Now is the time to stop these hate groups before they grow strategically and more people are intentionally maimed or injured. I say take action now to change the culture of these United States.  Racism and bigotry may not totally disappear, but it can become punishable under the Law.   What do you think, dear reader?

  • Do you  want the right to assemble peaceably without fear for your lives?  Do you think that any group that violates your basic freedoms , should be legally barred from assembling and carrying weapons of destruction that they hope to use?

In answer to Huey’s 2nd question,  “Do you think Donald Trump will unite America”?  I do!  I believe Trump’s  Presidency  forces ” We the People”  to  unite across our Country.    Our success will be measured when we make it a crime for any group to speak hatefully or act  as violently as the White supremacists.   Their proactive violent behavior must be stopped.    Nothing less than Legislation is acceptable.

Trump is a symptom of our division not the cause of it. With social media and more investigative reporting , we can see ourselves and reflect upon what “We the People” need to become fair and just Americans?

When our right to that fair and just way of life is threatened, there is only one response.  Craft the legislation that will allow all Americans to be safe in the Public Square!  We can’t afford to counter violence with just words.  Anti-social actions must be stopped by the Rule of Law!

See you Wednesday and let’s chat!

“the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11 am Monday Corporate Greed has divided us into groups, let’s take time to defend the besieged “white male”, too’

To the detriment of “we the People”, we have been segmented into groups. This division is not healthy for Americans. It does not contribute to a sense of shared journey in these United States. Instead it pits one group against the other as every group believes that the “other” group is the cause of their misery . In reality , it is corporate greed that has created loss of Jobs, poor health and education choices and Opioid addiction
It is a fact, bad government policy and corporate greed have splintered Americans wasting “human capital”  to America’s detriment.

Now ,  the poor , working poor and Middle Class white male considers himself a targeted group for mis treatment and feels under siege. ” He ” suffers from suicide, Opioid addiction, loss of dignity and has become part of the underemployed or unemployed. Many have slipped out of their comfortable Middle Class status and find it difficult to recover from Job loss. They were once Middle and upper Middle Management or workers earning a living wage and now they have nothing. Not even $400 in savings . They have indeed lost out in the American Dream!

To quote Robert Schiller , the economist, “we need to bring back the American Dream of a just society, where everyone has an opportunity to reach “the fullest stature of which they are innately capable.”

In defense of White Males at their prime earning years,  their 40-60’s, how could “established White Males” bar them from earning a living? I reproach a society that has no compassion or empathy for all it’s citizens.

White males are human, they deserve equal opportunity to earn a decent living , to seek mental health counseling , to be retrained at Corporate expense , to be provided with a basic living wage for survival and the recognition that they exist and “we the people” see them.

No group should be stereotyped! No group should be judged! Designating groups , has been bad for society and good for the perpetuation of a corrupt do “nothing for the people ‘ government and business structure.

Cleverly, politics on the right and the left have segmented our Society, creating groups who view other groups as the enemy. Someone else took their job or let them fall into despair. In reality, over 30 years, government has worked with Big Business to create divisions among Americans, allowing some people  to prosper at everyone else’s expense. Make no mistake, those who prosper cross Party lines , have no racial divisions and are bound by their common need for more!

Meanwhile, the rest of America is divided by Party lines and ethnic groups. What happens when any group suffers and is in distress? “We the People ” collectively suffer. Families suffer, their loved ones suffer and Society losses an entire generation of potential innovation.

  • We can’t afford to deny the existence of those we’ve left out.

Rather , we should act and act as quickly as possible to redefine the American Dream .  A society that cares for all it’s people and provides equal opportunity to all. As American greed runs unchecked , groups have self identified, making it more difficult for many to see beyond their beleaguered group. It is past time to address the needs of the poor and working class and the less prosperous Middle Class, white Males included. They too must regain a sense of purpose . Their loss is America’s loss.   The American Dream was based upon treasuring “human capital”, all human capital!

I marvel at the resiliency of other Nations, while I  shake my head in dismay when I think about the America I love. In the 70’s the happiness of the American worker was codified into law. Job stability was guaranteed by the Corporation. No worker worried when Corporate divisions were sold, counseling and another job equal to theirs was promised.  American management valued “human capital”.

How do we reward ” we the People”, who have been left out of Technology, IT, and Manufacturing? Study our history and the common practices found today in America and other Countries.

  • Solutions proposed date back to our founding fathers.   Thomas Paine, believed “Everyman ” should be given a basic living wage at age 18, to be applied toward education and then again at age 55 to be applied toward retirement.
  • Milton Friedman and other Economists have thought about using Helicopter money to alleviate the plight of the poor and Middle Classes. They proposed cutting a $10,000 check for the poor, working poor and less upwardly mobile Middle Class.
  • I’ve thought about QE ( Quantitative Easing) for this group of unemployed or underemployed persons, too!   Retire the Treasury’s “older bonds” totaling $1.7 Trillion and cut a check for154 million American’s earning $75,000 or lower for $12,000 each.
  • For more examples of ” Corporate ” largess, NY teachers , like the Danes working for Elsevier in the 1990’s, when fired , they were allowed to remain employed and take up residence in designated work areas where they continued to collect their pay and benefits until they found work elsewhere.
  • The Finns have continued unemployment benefits to engineers laid off by start up organizations, in order to encourage workers to take risks again, while maintaining their unemployment benefits . In this way the Finns encourage creative thinking , innovation and entrepreneurs , while maintaining individual monetary stability.

Much can be done to help our suffering distressed population, including ” white males” . In the process , by being generous, we help ourselves and achieve a better life.
Why dream small? We can save our planet , if we act locally and think globally.
Let’s start locally by acknowledging the plight of the white male too and act now to bring him back to full earning capacity along with everyone else!

Why not work together in a Bipartisan way to solve our problems,  rather then avoiding them. Let’s have compassion and empathy for those left behind.

I have faith in my fellow Americans. Once awakened, I’ve seen our can do spirit! Let’s take a deep breath and let each man achieve a small step forward so mankind can benefit and prosper. When thinking about America , let’s think about all Americans . Give our “left behind ” white males a chance to re enter society, too. It would be a win win for America.

See you on Monday and we’ll chat!

“the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am Doing nothing is not an option! America needs work!

I am irate! Why? Events and problems I thought were solved remain in Limbo.
Insurance companies still don’t have assurances from our government that they’re being paid. This is cruel to everyone: the Corps. , the hospitals , Doctors and” we the People”.
Infrastructure is not being done on a grand scale because States have no excess cash. Since, they are struggling to pay their Medicaid bills, a normal on going costs, there is no money left over for infrastructure. . Toll roads and gas taxes have been proposed and these additional taxes would further burden the working poor and Middle Class.
The stock market rises based on the assumption there will be tax cuts and deregulation of many industries. Irrational exuberance perhaps once again, as Bankers and Pundits close their eyes to the gathering Financial Bubbles.

Meanwhile , Eric Prince reemerges to save Afghanistan , this time with a provisional government ? What does he know about Nation Building? I still remember Blackwater’s stain on Iraq. No matter, his men were recently acquitted for murder. We don’t need his mercenaries for hire in Afghanistan, the Afghanis will hate us more then they do now. Afghanistan wants Americans out of their Country.

Since WWll we have intervened in civil wars costing millions of lives on all sides. What have we accomplished? Why persist? We should be looking inward to repair our own decaying infrastructure.

We should stop whining and start solving problems. Step one would be to lower the Corporate tax rate to 28-22% and close all loopholes. Collect taxes from Corporations and use those taxes for improving our Country. We can tax  their Corporate Foreign subsidiaries at 15%. That would take some of the pressure off of the States. As I’ve stated before,  there are other ways to raise revenue. We’ve seen the affects of tax cuts on Corporate America. Tax cuts increase individual salaries at the top leaving American workers either jobless or underemployed. No more tax cuts. We are stretched too thin as it is!

In my own City, I found it disturbing that the most crowded subway lines in the City, The #4,#5, &#6  trains could add 10 extra trains to relieve congestion on the Lexington Avenue Lines.  What’s the reasoning behind underutilization of serviceable trains? Why now? Today a story in the NY Times, clarified “our” problem.  Lack of funds.  DeBlasio has proposed a targeted tax on singles and families earning $250,000 and $1,000,000.  A 7% tax increase, similar to my proposal to raise the income level on payroll deductions , would raise approximately $800 Billion  annually, enough to fix our ailing subways.   Subway Transportation is critical infrastructure in this City , we need it on time and reliable.  We need it now, not in 10 years.  Finally, a method suggested that does not tax the working poor and the Middle Class.

Another day , another problem and sometimes a solution.  There are many solutions. Who will legislate them and make Americans’ daily lives less stressful and more productive is the issue?     Doing nothing is not an option.  Infrastructure in our Country is so poorly maintained , the Public is at risk.

See you at 11am and we’ll chat.

“the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

The Voice of Joyce: What Caused Inequality? Tax Cuts! Read on & we’ll chat Wednesday @11am on Periscope!

Inequality! What caused inequality in our country? How is it possible, with all the unequivocal facts facing Congress, they are still advocating corporate tax cuts and deregulation for big business, and even more personal tax cuts for the wealthy. Their proposals boggle my mind.

Tax cuts for Big Business and tax evasion by the wealthy over the last 30+ years have been the true causes of our State of inequality. Our country’s men and women have suffered at the hands of a greedy few who have had no intention of sharing their profits with average Americans, “We the People”.

Another example of this greed is the latest deal Trump has made with Foxconn, the Chinese Industry noted for LED’s, was lured to Wisconsin to satisfy Trump’s political supporters, Speaker Paul Ryan and Governor Scott Walker and has the potential to cost Wisconsin taxpayers $230K per employee. Wisconsin doesn’t need this new employer , skilled employees will have to be relocated from neighboring states, since Wisconsin unemployment is low!? Ohio, Texas, New York competed for Foxconn, however, Trump made this deal to reward specific political cronies, the rest of us, don’t matter to Trump! The jobs will be allocated by Trump for the few that follow him.

When do we say “enough bad policy”. Americans are entitled to a living wage. First , Congress took away our homes , during the Great Recession of 2008, by changing the Bankruptcy laws to accommodate the Banks ! It’s obvious in our Country, Big Business, the Banks and Wall Street profits come before the needs of Main Street, “We the People”. Adding insult to injury, College education, though highly regarded, is not available to most students without incurring Student Debt, that can almost never be paid off? Many of our young people have been saddled with huge student debt and minimally paying jobs. Other Americans have become underemployed, making it impossible for most to make a living wage without working 2-3 jobs. Now when most average Americans don’t have a savings account or enough money put away to sustain them for 6 months, Republicans in Congress are still talking about tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the poor and middle class.

Raise your voices high when the Federal Budget is introduced. Congress & Trump looked at Healthcare as easy pickings to shave off billions at the expense of the poor and middle class. That didn’t work, thanks to McCain, Collins and Murkowski, three brave moderate Republicans who voted with Democrats to save the ACA. Undaunted, Congress will try to defund our safety nets by cutting the Federal Budget. Don’t let them succeed. We don’t need more tax cuts!

What we do need is a National Federal Infrastructure program that puts millions to work at good paying jobs; a program that crosses America and benefits all Americans, lifting them up out of poverty, breaking the non compete clauses, the arbitration clauses and whatever lawyer gimmicks holds us back from earning a living wage and upward mobility! Continue to advocate for our rights. We cannot be silent in the face of tyranny.

Our children and our grandchildren need us to speak out on their behalf. Democracy demands that we request the ability to pursue life liberty and happiness too! Advocate and run for office now. “We the People” can no longer vote Party Lines or choose to not vote, instead, we must choose to support candidates for government who support the goals of the poor and middle class.

What has caused inequality? Asked and answered. Tax cuts for Big Business and tax evasion created through bad policy has left us with a State of Inequality”. We can change our society to become more fair and equitable, but it will take the voices of 360 million of us.

See you Wednesday and we’ll chat!

“The heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am China invests $1 Trillion in Europe, Asia & Africa. What is America doing ?

Where are we today? According to the Financial Times the US lags behind in infrastructure development and GDP even as China ambitiously moves forward with a trillion dollar investment to develop Europe, Asia and Africa’s aging infrastructure.  China will give these nations the cash they need to build their roads, bridges and transportation hubs. Iran will become the hub for all of these programs, duplicating the “Silk Road ” of the Ancient World.

While we are unable to agree on infrastructure programs for our nation or acknowledge the individual needs of our States, the rest of the world is improving their own infrastructures and creating new businesses.

By uniting we can change our story, too! We have the money and the resources in America to develop our own infrastructure. It may be too late for this year. However, in six months every state should be capable of identifying their critical infrastructure.
With help from “We the people”, America can develop and target funds for massive infrastructure rebuilding.  Don’t let Congress propose tax cuts for the wealthy, when we want more, not less of the economic pie!  To get there, I propose creating the following data banks, call your representatives, and run for local, state and federal office.

They say millions of jobs exist.  Prove it!  Where is that database I’ve been requesting for 4 yrs?  We need:

  • A national jobs data bank
  • A National Apprentice program starting in Junior High School
  • Corporate America should be publishing their Job openings along with salary expectations and their requirements for technical skills.

“I’m from Missouri, I need to see job listings I can believe in!”  If Americans are going to compete against the global economy, we should decide if we want to carve out our own niche or become the most educated quality and customer- dedicated employee on the planet. Take the 90-day challenge: Advocate or run for office.

We are not a country of followers; we are a country of doers!  If we don’t work or plan now for the next 40 yrs, we will truly lag behind in the world.  Advocate for change now. Start running for local government today.  I met several potential Council women and one local Congressman.  Donald Trump’s horrendous disregard for the American working class has motivated decent folks to run for government office.  He’s done the same for the ACA – made it popular!  Don’t worry, we’re not going to let anyone take away our entitlements. We will raise our voices and stop the partisan rhetoric coming out of Washington and replace it with solid requests for jobs and a basic safety net.

Quantative Easing for the middle and lower classes is beginning to sound more reasonable every day. Especially when I hear that so many lack savings for emergencies. Why not use $1.7 trillion of the $4.5 trillion the Fed holds in bonds to cut a $12,000 check for each of the 154 Million poor and middle class American families? The time to do something is now. Americans have waited 9 years for a positive change in the economy. How many more years are we prepared to wait?

In the next few weeks, I’ll be seeking endorsements for my campaign and placing a solicitation for funds on CrowdPac!
See you at 11 am dear followers.

“The heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am Trump’s relentless pursuit of bad policy hurts the middle & lower classes

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. I get it. I certainly made every effort during my professional career to provide adequate healthcare benefits and vacation time for my employees.  I was the CEO; it was my job to provide work for my mechanics. When work was scarce, we worked part time, keeping folks employed at less pay.
When I predicted in 2010 that the economy would not improve , I closed my business with my employees knowledge and encouragement.
That’s life in a small business: persevering against the odds, trying to maintain stability in a chaotic business climate, and surviving as long as possible to maintain our niche.

Contrast my perseverance in small business with the Federal Government’s perseverance on bad health care policy under President Trump.
Mitch McConnell lost support for the Republican health care policy. Fortunately, three women GOP Senators stopped him.  (Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Shelley Moore Capito)   The vote was 48 to 4.  Now McConnell intends to repeal the bill next week, though he doesn’t appear to have the votes to pass.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/18/us/politics/republicans-
obamacare-repeal-now-replace-later.html?smprod=nytcore-iphone&smid=nytcore-iphone-share

The seven-year Republican quest to repeal the Affordable Care
Act seemed to reach a dead end Tuesday, but President Trump
vowed to “let Obamacare fail.”

Trump, whose job approval rating is at 36%, is now so angry that he has no victory on healthcare, he is blaming Democrats for this loss , when Democrats were not even involved in creating the Senate bill, nor were they being counted in the vote!   He intends to “let Obamacare fail” as he stated on all the cable networks yesterday.

The ACA is still intact and only in trouble, if Congress fails to reinstate the individual mandate and the Insurance Subsidies guaranteed under the ACA.  Open enrollment on the exchanges, restarts in November!   New York State is open for business with many insurance companies participating.  However, I’ve just heard from NPR that insurance subsidies are continuing through July, August is up to the Senate to fund?  The uncertainty continues.

If the Senate bill had not been blocked, many Americans would be anticipating increased insurance premiums. Mitch McConnell doesn’t seem to understand what Repeal means for millions: no medical care for serious medical conditions, loss of insurance, cuts to Medicaid, rural hospital closures, and increased emergency room visits. No one is prepared for the ensuing chaos that will unfold. Make no mistake,  millions would be immediately impacted by this thoughtless political move.  Instead,  why not improve the ACA  by initiating minor negotiations with the insurance companies and pharmaceuticals?  The Democrats are eager to offer assistance.

If McConnell were a CEO , he would most likely have been removed for non performance. However, we’re stuck. Not only does he and his coterie of followers intend to Repeal the ACA at some point in time, they are unveiling their Federal Budget next. Get ready as they pursue with vigilance draconian Tax Cuts for the wealthy, increases for Defense and you guessed it, decreases to entitlements;  Social Security and Medicare, disabilities and unemployment insurance.

They are persevering. The same unpopular issues keep coming back to cripple the poor, the working poor, and the middle class.  Let’s not make it easy for those espousing such bad policy. We must advocate for new revenue generation. Tax cuts for the wealthy and big business don’t help us. We know.  We’ve seen that policy play out over the last lost decade of the American worker. Add these bad policies to the authorized influx of 15,000 skilled foreign labor under the H2-b visa and we have a concerted effort to further undermine the American worker.

First, they take away our good paying jobs and send them off shore.  Now,  they are putting our healthcare in jeopardy, and may do the same with our Social Security and Medicare.  And finally, while claiming Americans first, they plan to bring 45% more skilled foreign labor to America to compete with Americans.

Too bad Trump and his administration forgot their business credentials.   Keep your workforce well paid and employed and they’ll perform for you and gladly increase production.   Why increase foreign participation in our workforce, when Americans are unemployed and underemployed?  At record profits, why aren’t American businesses, doing business with the government, tasked with training the American workforce?   In Government, it’s not worthwhile to pursue bad policy, not when you won the election on , America and Americans first!

Joyce AmericaSpeaks Periscope@11am Does Fox News give you the News? Entertainment?

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am Does the Fox News Channel dispense News? Change the Channel and hear something different!

Why do some people watch and believe Fox News?   I question whether it is a powerful media tool used to propagandize the right’s message, our President’s message  and not daily news and analysis?   Much of the news is not even presented.  Where is world news and their thoughts on foreign and/or domestic policy? Where are the facts?
How do I know those listening to Fox are not getting all the news and/or facts? I read the news all over the globe. I’m skeptical of the truth and concerned as a journalist that I provide my followers with accurate factual news. The facts are important to me. I’ll spend hours tracking news stories to confirm their veracity.
That is who I am and who my followers are. We value the truth, not fake news or fake facts. We don’t want to live in a state of denial. Look what happens when you deny the facts.

Several weeks ago, London experienced their worst fire in a high-rise residential apartment house because landlords and the government ignored vital facts about aluminum clad buildings. At last count, 76-80 people died. Why didn’t anyone review the facts? Why was this cheaper, dangerous method used when this product was banned in other nations? We will learn the facts though many more may be hurt and injured while we learn.
You’re probably thinking, what does this have to do with Fox News? Who’s going to suffer? Are the stakes equally high? Life and death? The short answer is Yes. Why?

I listened to a Fox News disclaimer on the Russian interference in our elections. Despite all of our intelligence evidence of Russia’s hacking into the 2016 elections, Fox is pushing its version of false news pretty hard. I keep wondering why? What do they gain by misleading people? What do they gain by supporting Trump no matter what the personal cost to Fox watchers and believers? They create an atmosphere of us v. them.
That’s simply not true. Whether you are white, black, yellow or brown, whether you live in rural or urban America, if you’re poor, working poor or part of the dwindling middle class, we’re all suffering together. We’re all underemployed; we’re all concerned about healthcare, education, infrastructure, and good paying jobs.

Don’t just listen to Fox News. If you do and you’re not like the rest of us grazing the news, you’ll never know when you should be concerned about current events. Whether you stay in your media silo or not, crisis and politics will affect you! It affects all of us.
Fox is very clever in their denial of the facts. Read my Twitter Posts of the news from around the World. Then you’ll be informed and understand that your increased knowledge is pro America and Pro Democracy . Why accept anything less? You have the power to turn the channel and participate in the Democratic process, why be a bystander, when you can write your own story?  Try PBS. it’s unbiased.  Or read the Financial Times or the Washington Post.

I’m not an ideologue. I try to seek out the truth and provide unbiased facts.
Have a great day. See you at 11 am Monday.
