Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am Doing nothing is not an option! America needs work!

I am irate! Why? Events and problems I thought were solved remain in Limbo.
Insurance companies still don’t have assurances from our government that they’re being paid. This is cruel to everyone: the Corps. , the hospitals , Doctors and” we the People”.
Infrastructure is not being done on a grand scale because States have no excess cash. Since, they are struggling to pay their Medicaid bills, a normal on going costs, there is no money left over for infrastructure. . Toll roads and gas taxes have been proposed and these additional taxes would further burden the working poor and Middle Class.
The stock market rises based on the assumption there will be tax cuts and deregulation of many industries. Irrational exuberance perhaps once again, as Bankers and Pundits close their eyes to the gathering Financial Bubbles.

Meanwhile , Eric Prince reemerges to save Afghanistan , this time with a provisional government ? What does he know about Nation Building? I still remember Blackwater’s stain on Iraq. No matter, his men were recently acquitted for murder. We don’t need his mercenaries for hire in Afghanistan, the Afghanis will hate us more then they do now. Afghanistan wants Americans out of their Country.

Since WWll we have intervened in civil wars costing millions of lives on all sides. What have we accomplished? Why persist? We should be looking inward to repair our own decaying infrastructure.

We should stop whining and start solving problems. Step one would be to lower the Corporate tax rate to 28-22% and close all loopholes. Collect taxes from Corporations and use those taxes for improving our Country. We can tax  their Corporate Foreign subsidiaries at 15%. That would take some of the pressure off of the States. As I’ve stated before,  there are other ways to raise revenue. We’ve seen the affects of tax cuts on Corporate America. Tax cuts increase individual salaries at the top leaving American workers either jobless or underemployed. No more tax cuts. We are stretched too thin as it is!

In my own City, I found it disturbing that the most crowded subway lines in the City, The #4,#5, &#6  trains could add 10 extra trains to relieve congestion on the Lexington Avenue Lines.  What’s the reasoning behind underutilization of serviceable trains? Why now? Today a story in the NY Times, clarified “our” problem.  Lack of funds.  DeBlasio has proposed a targeted tax on singles and families earning $250,000 and $1,000,000.  A 7% tax increase, similar to my proposal to raise the income level on payroll deductions , would raise approximately $800 Billion  annually, enough to fix our ailing subways.   Subway Transportation is critical infrastructure in this City , we need it on time and reliable.  We need it now, not in 10 years.  Finally, a method suggested that does not tax the working poor and the Middle Class.

Another day , another problem and sometimes a solution.  There are many solutions. Who will legislate them and make Americans’ daily lives less stressful and more productive is the issue?     Doing nothing is not an option.  Infrastructure in our Country is so poorly maintained , the Public is at risk.

See you at 11am and we’ll chat.

“the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

The Voice of Joyce:#Say No Tax Cuts, Generate Revenue & Restore Equality. See you Monday @11am.

The problem solvers of Congress are a good beginning, representing 8% of our Statesmen and women. To swing votes toward the center, at least  25% of our Congressional Representatives should be willing to cross party lines for the benefit of “We the People”.  People before policy!

Many would argue that their Party is ” in the right” and therefore , there’s no need to compromise.  I believe we should put people before politics.  We’ve had recent examples of the ideologies of both parties. All but 3 Senators in the GOP were ready to destroy our existing healthcare system, even though 88% of the country wants to stabilize the ACA, make improvements to ensure delivery and lower costs to more individuals, thus making healthcare affordable to everyone.  This, in fact, was the original goal of the ACA (Obama Care): to utilize insurance companies to provide subsidized healthcare for Americans based on income, and decrease pharmaceutical costs.  If we expand Medicaid to all 50 states, we will increase healthcare enrollment from  6-25 million more Americans.  “We the People” are paying for the system indirectly through our tax dollars.

Next, I am still concerned with the enforcement of Dodd Frank.  I haven’t always been a proponent, favoring the simpler Glass Steagall Act.  I was concerned that enforcement of many important rules of Dodd Frank would be difficult and I have unfortunately been proven right.  According to the Financial Times on 8/1/17, Credit Default Swaps are re-emerging, unchecked once again.  I fear that these instruments of mass economic destruction, if left unchecked, could once again trigger economic collapse.  It is precisely this risk that I wanted to avoid with a tax on derivatives and hi-speed trades.  A 6% tax, which is not their entire spread, has the potential to provide at least $660 Billion in revenue to the Federal Government, enough to jump start many innovative infrastructure and cyber security programs. My goal is to create new jobs at all levels of income.

Noting the recent black out debacle in North Carolina and the halting of construction on 2 nuclear power in South Carolina, it is clear,  we should understand and implement new processes in construction.   To gradually replace fossil fuels and gas fracking, I would divide the $660 Billion subsidies these industries receive with new industries entering the renewable energy realm. It is unfair for taxpayers to pay for Westinghouse’s learning curve directly. This burden should be shared by all Americans.  In our time of looking inward and rebuilding, it is time to be patriotic and share the tax burden to grow America. We all benefit by being able to vacation on the outer banks of North Carolina or from advanced generation of nuclear power.  We should all pay for improving America. Taxation is a shared burden.  It isn’t shared now,  according to Thomas Pikettey and other Economists,  $13-23 Trillion may be hidden by the Uber wealthy, as they evade paying taxes.
Equal opportunity for all should be our goal!  Everyone benefits from healthcare; everyone should pay into the system. Uncap the income level for contributions to the “payroll tax”.  Tax the first million up to 7.5 %.  Let’s be fair!  Right now only the upper middle class is burdened.  Healthcare is everyone’s right and privilege.  When I had  hip replacement at HSS, friends of the Board were in the next bed!  We are equal and should share equally!

In order to maintain orderly transitions from one industry to the next, we should maintain jobs that would be otherwise lost when we cut subsidies.  This clearly was not  thought out as we pursued globalization. We  can,  however,  think and act upon the effects of worker displacement now.  For example, let’s consider an enhanced social safety net for those earning $75,000 or less annually. The Fed has over $4Trillion in bonds on their balance sheet. Why not retire $1.7Trillion of those assets and cut a check for $12K for 154 Million American families!  It’s a win-win for the country, since the working poor and the middle class spend, The money would also recirculate, creating and/or maintaining jobs.  This concept is not new.  Brazil paid their working poor monthly.  Some of the Scandinavian countries continue to pay unemployment benefits, encouraging laid off engineers and IT personnel to take a chance again and join start ups!
That’s why I advocate for bipartisanship, we must think outside our ideological boxes and use the best ideas from all people.  Think purple!  Why wait for a crisis when we can act on behalf of all Americans now.

See you on Monday and let’s chat about our wish list for our future,   yours and mine!

“the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

Joyce AmericaSpeaks Periscope @11am Friday: Let’s talk Healthcare,Critical Infrastructure, Jobs & Letter to Senator JohnMcCain enclosed!

Dear followers I sent this letter to Senator John McCain this morning (6/22/17)!  Please read and comment.  I’ll have another PowerPoint presentation for you on Healthcare next week.  Meanwhile, have a great weekend.  See you tomorrow from Grand Central or the train as I make my way toward a “Glass Weekend” in the Berkshires.  See you tomorrow around 11am.  We’ll chat.  My letter is “pasted” below for your review!

To John McCain

Thank you for responding personally to my letter and giving me the opportunity to communicate with you.  I value your concern for your fellow countrymen and women and would like to offer my advice on Healthcare which is of great concern to the majority of people in our Country. This afternoon I listened to a Webinar by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement along with 679 other concerned citizens and professionals.
Based on their 2 hour presentation, I believe the Committee tasked with improving the ACA should consider the following :

1. Reassuring the Insurance Industry that subsidies will be provided next year. Take the uncertainty out of the Market, now, before it’s too late to guarantee payments and maintain their service to the States.

2. Reinstate the mandate for young healthy folks. It’s necessary to have a balanced insurance pool to maintain costs.

3. As we know from experience, the older sicker pool will cost more to insure.

4. Reinstate expanded Medicaid to the States. I know folks in Alabama who cannot afford insurance because it’s too costly and they don’t qualify for Medicaid. They would qualify for expanded Medicaid.

5. Before the ACA 50 million people were uninsured. NOW millions are insured.

6. We can do better. We should be offering quality healthcare to our citizens at least cost. If the wealthy are paying for the ACA through taxation, that’s fair and patriotic. Everyone gets Medicare and Social Security. Why not pay it forward? It’s the American way. We were always a generous people.

7. What is being proposed is a wealth transfer to the already wealthy. The government saves $880Billion by destroying people’s lives and the wealthier among us get a Trillion Dollar savings? The deficit decreases only because citizens obtain less coverage and those who don’t need the money benefit. If we’re worried about the deficit remind me to show you how I can generate Revenue and decrease the deficit without targeting taxation only to  the most affluent.  For example, “we” could  consider taxing (6 basis points) Derivatives, which I consider “a weapon of mass destruction”; Joseph Stiglitz approved this concept and I’m sure Charlie Munger would, too!

8. Fix the ACA don’t repeal it and replace it with Mitch McConnel’s Draconian alternative. Look upon the ACA as a work in progress. Ask all the States to send representatives to congress who have experience administrating the plan. Let the States learn from each other and implement programs that encourage prevention and quality of life. You can’t leave the sickest most vulnerable individuals without proper access to Healthcare. Some one asked me today, on my Periscope program, Joyce America Speaks , if Healthcare was in the Constitution? It isn’t . However, how can an individual pursue their right to life, liberty and happiness , if they are suffering , in pain or dead?

9. Stabilize the ACA and move forward with improvements. Reinstate the monies to fund labs looking at economic and Technological improvements.

10. Reinstate funding for valuable drug counseling programs and colonoscopies, women’s and children’s health issues.

11. Allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. I know many Middle Class elderly who rely on Medicare and Meals on wheels. They are retired school teachers, they have no funds to pay for medications , food, and insurance policies. They can’t be burdened with extra costs , they have no extra funds.

12. If the Congress really wanted to save money, they could expand Medicare for everyone. The system is in place and it works. The insurance companies could be maintained as well. I know, I have supplemental healthcare.

13. To my knowledge , this is only a rudimentary wish list, it can be expanded. I’m gaining more insight by listening to webinars by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.   Their last Broadcast on Technology titled “Technology , is it hurting or helping Healthcare”? Espouses a National Medical Database. It would facilitate patient care. I know about that too! When I had hip revision I was first admitted to Cornell Weill emergency , for a dislocated hip. My X-rays were transferred when I took them with me to the Hospital for Special Surgery. They’re connected to each other by a bridge , yet it is a bridge too far. Want to hear another absurdity, Cornell emergency wanted to transfer me via ambulance to HSS . They’re 200 ft apart. I refused and they wheeled me over on a gurney!

14. I believe you have a heart and you are your own person . Stand up for “we the people”, because you know it’s right. Be just. God Bless you.

If ever you wish to chat. I’m willing to take a trip to Washington, DC. I’m passionate about the well being of “we the People” and understand that”Politics affects US”!
Wishing you only the best

I remain respectfully yours, “the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”.

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am. Late Stage Capitalism! Time to strike! Or allow the Market Society to persist at your peril!

Late Stage Capitalism is producing inferior products and despairing low productivity employees. The consequences: “we the People ” are paying for the despair of others and their poor workmanship with our lives.

In war we don’t appear to be excelling. We used to, not now. We can’t protect our selves from the enemy. I can’t imagine what happened to our ship off the coast of Japan? Why did it suffer severe damages and loss of life?

IN NYC subway systems, the “old” cars lasted generations. The new ones  have massive electrical failures. Not even the conductors can control the path and speed of the trains. Being stranded with no power has  become a routine occurrence. Why? Where are the folks, the computers and the signaling devices tracking the subway system? What happened to preventive maintenance? Accountability? Short term thinking , using budgeted funds irresponsibly , is costing people their jobs and shortening their life as they breathe stale air underground.

Our Healthcare dilemma has taken many forms. It’s failing ordinary Americans because those in power are literally against any healthcare coverage , period. They don’t see the necessity to maintain a healthy populace and only believe you should have catastrophic care. They’re out of touch with reality. They don’t know the facts. In South Korea the average life span is 105 yrs because they have a National Healthcare system that caters to ” hypochondriacs”. Some things can not be privatized. Healthcare deserves to be a single payer system where everyone benefits and the Uber wealthy can buy into “boutique ” practices as a choice.  Until then, guarantee subsidies to the Insurance Companies allowing them  to maintain a competitive edge .  Re write the Law for Big Pharma price negotiations.  Stabilize our existing ACA then move forward in a Bipartisan way in 2 years.

Meanwhile, too many of us , part of the once comfortable lower upper Class, are supporting family members who are part of the long term unemployed. This should be the job of Government. Congress and previous generations of legislators who knew we would have an employment crisis and did nothing for 30 yrs. “We the People ” do not have enough resources to support our children and grandchildren. Our State of Inequality must be reversed. Or most of us will have a Sophie’s choice of putting food on the table for our selves or the rest of the family.

Let’s take back our Country sooner rather then later. A National strike beginning July 4 th is sounding more appealing every day!

The Voice of Joyce: Revenue Generation Now! Say No to Trump Tax Cuts….

slide4slide5slide6slide7Dear followers, in this age of austerity and uncertainty, we don’t need more pain from austerity.  The only reason for tax cuts is to reward Trump’s cronies, those Billionaires and Lobbyists in his administration and any Congressman or women who votes for an austerity budget rather then a job growth program.

I’ve developed several solutions to our State of Inequality.  Review them at your leisure.  Add your thoughts.  There are pockets of wealth in many Communities and there are many pockets of poverty and despair and opioid addiction.  It is up to us, the electorate , to make our wishes loud and clear.  According to our religious training, being a good person demands that you speak up for your fellow man.  We all need equal opportunity to prosper.

All the best!

“the heart and pulse of the Middle Class”

Joyce America Speaks Periscope @11am There are big bucks available to “we the People”! Read ! & Demand!

Countering the narrative. After reading Paul Krugman ‘s and David Brook’s opinion on Friday, I ‘m disheartened that they share each other’s pain. Both are miserable about the State of our union and the Republican Party in particular. Why they opine? There is no leadership ready to take on Trump and his extreme agenda?

The ACA is already hurting individuals because the House bill creates uncertainty in the Insurance business. The Insurance Companies made a profit last year . This year they’re afraid to project future profits because of uncertainties in the subsidies promised which would make premiums affordable for Middle Class folks. This has been confirmed by investigative reporting by The Kaiser Foundation , The Washington Post and The New York Times. Further , since the mandate isn’t enforced , less young people are buying into affordable healthcare ensuring that the pool is less profitable. Whatever happened to paying it forward and feeling good about helping those less fortunate? The ACA will die by neglect, hurting millions in the very States that supported Trump. So where are the leaders to steer this project through to completion or just stay with the existing ACA? Where are the leaders to move our Country forward in spite of the chaos generated by the Trump administration?

How did we get to Party first, re election 1st and labeling dissenters as the opposite Party to be discounted. Where is your sense of responsibility to all people, not those who only agree with your position? Party , before Country as a policy , will implode.

Next, we’ll focus on Foreign Policy , much more palatable to Congressmen then Domestic Policy. The foreign policy trip has been billed as a giant business trip rewarding a few, the President included perhaps? There is big money supporting Donald Trump and his Agenda and it’s forming our foreign policy and our domestic policy as well.

Big business is gutting EPA regulations and creating an environment open to the fossil fuel business, smog, methane gas emissions and other toxins. Back to an abundance of “bad” health days is in our future allowing big fossil fuel businesses to thrive as the polar ice caps melt?
Rather then investing in innovation we are playing ” the same old record of destruction”. Benefiting the few at the expense of the many. Some are even calling the EPA, Devon Industries because Scott Pruitt has a long history of doing business with them. See Sunday’s NY Times expose!
Thankfully, I’ve also read that in spite of Big Money in the Republican extremist movement , young people who would normally identify with Republicans , those 30 and younger , are not buying into the Trump agenda. That’s good news indeed!

Now we need to convert more people to activism and convince the young to run for local office. We should be supporting all decent candidates. The Voice of Joyce will continue to report on issues that concern us dear followers. Remember my chart on Military spending? I knew from bidding experience that the Defense budget was bloated. Bob Woodward of the Washington Post just confirmed the existence of a slush fund and $125 Billion in waste and mis management of the Defense Budget. Confirming 20-25% waste.
No need to suffer when we can sway Congress with our voices and the facts. You have mine , load and clear.
See you at 11 am, let’s chat.
“The heart and pulse of the Middle Class “

JoyceAmericaSpeaks Periscope 11am Say no to Tax Cuts. Save MiddleClass with Revenue!

Why are we worrying about the deficit? $5 Trillion of the $19.7 Trillion deficit is a cushion against US losses. The rest could be eradicated by clever taxation that targets everyone, not just the Middle Class.

1. Increase the income level for payroll deductions to infinity or the first $Million earned and you’ll capture a minimum of $4Trillion to be split up between SS Medicaid Medicare

2. Take away the special exemption from employers and enforce that they match the payroll deductions of their employees. Small businesses have to match employee funds , why not large businesses, too?

3. Cut back on farm and oil subsidies and generate revenue for the real economy. $684 Billion.

4. Cut out 10% waste in the defense budget and you’d have the money for Defense modernization.

5. Tax Risk by Taxing Derivatives and millisecond trades 6% . Collect another $600 Billion to a Trillion Dollars. Derivatives could be substituted with an insurance product decreasing their risk to the Banking and Bank like industries.  There’s risk in the downside of these trades, remember the crash of 2008?

6. Provide Quantitative Easing for the Middle Class , instead of bailing out Wall Street. Give 154,000,000  people in the Middle Class and lower , $12,000 each.

Lives count. Restore the American spirit and our dignity. We can do it by slight revenue adjustments. Austerity doesn’t work.
All these revenue generation ideas would create new jobs now and negate the need for cuts to our institutions. We save  “we the people”  from poor health and return their dignity thru better jobs and better wages. No need to suffer !  Generate revenue and invest in American R&D and Americans.

See you at 11am.  Let’s chat about our World!
