LOL: The Russian Bear, may be only Putin and his aggressive Cold War Mentality. According to the Financial Times, Russia spends $91 Billion on defense and we spend $682 Billion. We should be able to crush them, though I’m not recommending a” Boots on the ground” war. I’m just being ” snarky ” about the differential in spending.
On a more provocative note, a proposal was made by one of my friends, half serious, half jokingly, “Bomb the port of Latakia “. Just the Port and disrupt the shipping lanes. I’m not sure if he thought about the consequences of a miss? We don’t want a strike on the weapons going back to Russia or do we? As a bonus option, strategically destroy Russia’s listening devices in the Middle East , as well: they’re positioned at the Port of Latakia, too! This Port appears to be a strategic center for Russian activity. Why not decrease their sphere of influence in the region with a couple of smart bombs and ” no boots on the ground”.? We, also , make them fight a War on 2 fronts, if they’re serious about annexing the Ukraine?
It’s a thought! Also, if you want to understand what makes Putin tick, go to the current literature, not the heavy stuff, Martin Cruz Smith, a ” mystery writer”, whose book describes Russia under Putin, ” Stalin’s Ghost”. When Bush looked into Putin’s eyes, that’s what he saw. Who knew?
