This evening there’s a vote on Trump’s Budget. He’s looking to slash the budget for Funding Medicaid and SNAP and more, in order to increase the Dept of Defense by $100 Billion and extend the Corporate Tax Cuts . This will add $4.5 + Trillion to our deficit.
Why is this a terrible idea?
- The KFF of medicine predicts 13. 7 million will lose medical coverage and rural hospitals will close.
- Since the credit of the United States has been downgraded by Moody’s our debt becomes more expensive to finance. We can’t afford to increase our deficit.
What can we do?
- Demand Congress have open hearings on the Budget.
- Demand the wealthy are taxed to equal the taxes collected from the poor and Middle Classes. Approximately, $4.2 Trillion out of $4.7 Trillion collected.
- Reinstate professional IRS auditors to ensure collection and compliance with federal tax laws.
- Release $428+ Billion budgeted for Infrastructure from the Inflation Reduction Act.
- Reduce Fossil Fuel Subsidies and invest in renewable energy, creating better jobs at higher pay.
