1. The Terror on Our Streets: ICE Unchained
The recent tragedy in Minneapolis, where 37-year-old mother Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent, sent shockwaves through the country. But in Florida, it wasn’t just a headline. It was a warning.
Under the current administration, ICE has been “unleashed” with 12,000 new officers and a mandate that treats every immigrant family like a threat. We are seeing a level of aggression that endangers everyone, regardless of status. When federal agents feel empowered to open fire on mothers in school drop-off lines, no one is safe.
Luis Salazar understands that public safety means trust, not terror. As a Latino and a veteran, he knows that militarized policing in our neighborhoods destroys the fabric of our community. He is running to ensure that Florida does not become a hunting ground for federal agents who act above the law. 2. PragerU: The Brainwashing of Our Children
While they use fear to control our streets, they are using lies to control our classrooms.
Florida was the first state to approve PragerU as an official educational vendor, and with federal funding for PBS being slashed, this right-wing media company is aggressively moving to fill the void. They aren’t hiding their agenda. Their founder, Dennis Prager, explicitly admitted at a Moms for Liberty conference: “We bring doctrines to children. That is a very fair statement.”
And the doctrines they are teaching are terrifying.
- Slavery as a “Compromise”: In one animated lesson approved for Florida schools, two children travel back in time to meet a cartoon version of Frederick Douglass. Instead of condemning the horrors of chattel slavery, the cartoon Douglass describes slavery as a “compromise” made by the Founding Fathers to keep the South in the Union. He then criticizes other abolitionists for refusing to compromise and “setting things on fire,” subtly teaching children that demanding immediate justice is dangerous radicalism.
- Whitewashing Genocide: In a video titled “Leo & Layla Meet Christopher Columbus,” the explorer tells children that the indigenous people he encountered were “vicious, warring cannibals.” He justifies his brutal conquest by telling the kids, “In Europe, we draw the line at eating people.” It is a staggering distortion of history that paints genocide as a civilizing mission.
- Climate Change Denial: Another video mocks the scientific consensus on climate change, comparing modern environmental activists to Nazis. It encourages young students to “do their own research” rather than trust scientists, framing the survival of our planet as a matter of opinion rather than fact.
This isn’t education. It is political indoctrination designed to create compliant subjects rather than critical thinkers.
Luis Salazar believes in teaching the truth. He knows that our children deserve to learn actual history, the good, the bad, and the ugly, so they can build a better future. He is committed to kicking corporate propagandists out of the classroom and returning control to actual teachers who know that slavery was never a “compromise.”

3. Integrity vs. The Turncoat Legacy
District 64 has been burned before. The current representation in this seat sold out the voters to join the very party that is pushing this extremism.
Luis Salazar is the antidote to that cynicism. He has a track record of service that can’t be bought. From his time in the Navy to his leadership in the LGBTQ+ community, he has always put people first. He isn’t interested in climbing the ladder. He is interested in holding it steady while the rest of the state tries to shake it down.
The Bottom Line
We are fighting a two-front war in Florida that sets the tone for the nation. On one side, we have an unchecked deportation force terrorizing our neighborhoods. On the other, we have a state-sanctioned propaganda machine rewriting reality for our kids.
