AmericaSpeaks TheVoiceOfJoyce I’m not surprised the Red Cross is refusing to pay their workers a fair wage, grant a new Union Contract, they’re a mean spirited profit driven group. The American Workers refuses to be abused and now walks off jobs that fails to pay and staff workers according to the consumers need. They’re won’t be resignations, when employers honor Union Contracts, have adequate staffing and pay and benefits.

Lack of water, drought, flooding and fires, creating their own system of warming. There’s a way forward with conservation and capping fossil fuels usage. We’re running out of time and must pivot to integrating renewable energy now. These are still early days in our new climate catastrophic cycle.

More importantly they now have a voice in the workplace and can offer suggestions to management to help their clients. Many are professional social workers!

AmericaSpeaks TheVoiceOfJoyce I’ve been hearing a lot about schools not teaching lately. Read this article about the Nation’s teachers and how Societies ills have destroyed their ability to teach as they choose. With so many guns in circulation, they fear for their lives and the lives of their students. They’re mental health counselors, too! So many kids are anxious and depressed. Guns & Covid don’t help keep kids safe. Then they have political bans on books and their curriculum? They’re entrusted with the lives of Our kids and they can’t support their own curriculum? They’re mad, sad, angry and want to be left to teach without interference. It’s time we recognized their importance in our society and treated them with respect. It’s also time to recognize our kids will be 6 months behind and require remedial studies to catch up and lots of mental health counseling.

AmericaSpeaks TheVoiceOfJoyce In a unanimous decision The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the baggage claim handlers, stating they are engaged in inter state commerce and therefore, entitled to bring their claims for overtime pay to Court. This decision works for all employees involved in interstate commerce. They( Uber, Lyft & amazon employees) may bring class action suits against their employer and are not bound by individual arbitration. This a win for Labor. Changing NLRB Laws would be Labor’s objective!

We’ve taken away the peoples safety net and never replaced it. From Student Loans, to child care, to transportation, to WiFi, to food insecurity, we’ve created a two tier society with stressed out traumatized adults and children. When do we reinstate our Social Safety Net? The For the Families Act? Where’s the debate ?
