It should be noted, after the Southern Democrats helped Johnson achieve the goals of the Great Society and created 84 Laws solidifying a just society giving us Voting Rights, SS, Medicare & education, science and arts, they became Republicans. The Southern Democrats voted with him to achieve this Great Society and in their hearts they hated the equality they helped create. Many remained in the minority for years. The People liked their new rights and kept Democrats in power for years.
