TheVoiceOfJoyce If we want to survive the weather extremes, we must be creative and disruptive. Jake’s Solar Farm in Colorado, combines solar panels with diverse farming under their shields and it’s working. In Rotterdam, the Van Wingerden’s have a floating farm on pontoons. Their farm is 100% integrated. On the top level the cows are milked robotically. Their manure is used on local soccer fields to fertilize grass. Then the grass clipping come back to the farm to feed the cows. The milk is processed on a middle level directly into cheese and yogurt . Cows can actually walk to a small patch of pasture. The Floating farm is 100% self contained and uses desalinated water and rain water for processing. The lower level of the floating farm processes 1000 wheels of aged Gouda for sale at their farm shop. Creativity and disruption work to maintain known products in new surroundings. The Rotterdam effort is being reproduced in Singapore, Dubai and the Netherlands. NYC and Vermont are trying different methodologies that are independent of land.

Dust in the atmosphere, may have a cooling effect, temporarily shielding Earth from greenhouse gases. Now, the 8% dust covering recorded, is dissipating and the planet can warm quicker. Time is of the essence. Towns in Arizona are running out of water, Jackson, Mississippi is without water. America is in a resource crises, requiring expedited solutions. Will the Inflation Reduction Act be enough?

Heavy rains are expected through the middle of next week. 41 of 58 counties are considered a disaster. 17 people have perished from the weather. Mudslides, flooding, flowing rivers, heavy rain and snow all concentrated over a short time span and many are stranded and homeless. The cleanup can’t begin till this weather pattern stops. There’s no way to believe the Fossil Fuel myths, Climate extremes are directly correlated to Carbon Emissions. When do Americans say they’ve had enough disasters and cast Fossil Fuels aside as we embrace renewable energy expeditiously?

Two weeks of intense rain and snow won’t alleviate two decades of drought. The reality of weather extremes can no longer be denied. Do we sit back and argue over politics, or do we make plans for our survival? The choice is ours.

Not only will water reserves dry up, flooding will occur as well. The scenario is occurring as we fail to halt our rise in emissions and global temperatures. All over Europe, ski slopes are barren and there’s been a 10 degree rise in Celsius. With balmy weather, gas prices are down, inflation is down and the continents water supply is at risk. As a species, we can’t do nothing, we must change to survive.

TheVoiceOfJoyce For years Los Angeles has implemented reflective asphalt and roofs that are painted to reflect the sun’s rays. The Hispanic neighborhoods are hardest hit with heat deserts. The new reflective asphalt, lowers the ground temperatures 25 degrees Fahrenheit and the air temperatures 1 degrees Celsius. The new paint is used on Hospital roofs effectively. Meanwhile, to avoid 25 consecutive days of 95 degree Fahrenheit, millions of square miles are car lanes are using reflective asphalt with a life of 20-30 yrs. All cities should be adapting this methodology and more to prevent severe heat and deaths.

Dr. Otto is working to lessen the damage caused by planet warming by lessening the impact of the weather. If people have an early warning system they can can prepare for extreme flooding or heat. Ultimately, she states, we know there’s a link between Fossil Fuel usage and weather extremes and we must eliminate Fossil Fuel usage to survive. What’s needed is knowing how to wean governments off Fossil Fuels. My suggestion is to reduce Fossil Fuel subsidies and start building alternative energy power immediately. “We need change”.
