Description
There have been successes recently in Albany in regards to voting reform. But what has actually been accomplished? What is there still left to be done? New York has consistently ranked among the nation’s worst states for voter turnout, and we want to explore why that has been the case and what we need to do going forward.
Join us as we invite institutions across New York City to come together and to be a part of a coalition that advocates for sensible legislation. Speaking will be a wide array of professionals including election and campaign finance lawyer, author, and adjunct professor Jerry Goldfeder; Let New York Vote advocacy and policy strategist Na’ilah Amaru; and Stanley Fritz, Citizen Action of NY on behalf of Fair Elections NY, as we confront this frightening statistic and endeavor to form a coalition that advocates for sensible voting rights legislation.
Opening by New York State Assemblymember, Linda Rosenthal. In her tenure, Rosenthal has established herself as a leading advocate on affordable housing, domestic violence, consumer protection, government reform, environmental issues and animal cruelty.
