However, tariffs were so unpopular, a new President was elected. Grover Cleveland got a second term and the Democrats took back Congress for the first time, since the Civil War. Tariffs are less popular today and coupled with increasing debt and the continuation of Corporate Tax breaks , the People are not happy with this administration.
