AmericaSpeaks TheVoiceOfJoyce: Student loans come with higher interest rates than the purchase of a Picasso? Why don’t the poor and middle class have the same & equal opportunity for investment in themselves?

The interest rates for all new federal direct undergraduate student loans are 3.73%, up from 2.75% in 2020-21. Unsubsidized direct graduate student loan rates are 5.28%, up from 4.30%. Rates for PLUS loans, which are for graduate students and parents, are 6.28%, up from 5.30%.

If Elizabeth Warren says, student loans should qualify for a $50,000 forgiveness, it’s doable.

$10, 000 is a given, anything else is more meaningful. Plus the kids deserve a lower interest rate, especially throughout graduate school, when they’re most likely to start a family.

It’s not acceptable to keep asking the poor and middle Class to settle. We’re entitled to equal opportunity!
