TheVoiceOfJoyce When it comes to funding the Fossil Fuel Industry , it’s up to governments to stop rewarding them. Every oil company queried is backing off Climate pledges in favor of profits. The GOP Party Platform concurs with the oil majors and doesn’t support Climate Mitigation. I wonder, do any of the principles of oil companies, actually walk among us? If they did, like me, they’d be brain dead from the heat for several hours. I won’t die from the heat, I’m lucky, I can choose to stay in my air conditioned home. What about everyone else on this Planet? Many are definitely unlucky , suffering from extreme weather, heat, fires, loss of water resources, crop failures. Defending borders will be a major concern, as migrants flee their inhabitable land. While I may seek the refuge of movies, for several hours, what are our leaders doing to alleviate Global heating? Some could cut Fossil Fuel subsidies and insist on new EPA STANDARDS. We can rewild farmland. We can tap into the Indigenous way of life and rejuvenate our wetlands and rivers. We can collect water and moisture from torrential rains. So much can be done to save us. Who has the vision?

TheVoiceOfJoyce Is there any story more important then today’s weather extremes, effecting 42 million in America and countless billions across our Planet? We were warned in the 1970’s to expect intense weather extremes. Richard Nixon was prescient, he formed the EPA. Our other Presidents have watched our weather patterns, the Dept of Defense, is certainly concerned, has anyone, tried being pro active and acknowledging Fossil Fuels role in causing weather extremes? Where is accountability? When do we recognize our way of life is changing? How long can you survive with extreme heat and humidity? Personally, I find it as oppressive as extreme cold weather. I wouldn’t want to worry about my city flooding, either. It’s a Fact, Carbon and methane emissions are creating our weather extremes. It’s a fact, minor adjustments in our lifestyle and capping emissions and changing our methods of farming, will halt weather extremes. From now on, every year will be cooler then the last year. Now the El Niño is beginning, our World becomes hotter and our weather systems more unpredictable. At this point, every person on Earth is feeling the effects of Global Warming. NYC weather is in the 90’s for days with high humidity, compounded by air quality alerts caused by Canada’s fires and a breach in the ozone layer. Elderly and other vulnerable groups will die in this latest heat wave. We continue to break temperature records and “ Fossil Fuel Industry, think tank, wants a $40 a ton Carbon Tax? My position, the Fossil Fuel Industry gets almost a Trillion Dollars a year in subsidies, why not immediately repurpose $500 Billion for clean energy projects, healthcare , infrastructure, housing! AmericaSpeaks TheVoiceOfJoyce LA now has 75,000 homeless people, NYC has 100,000. The UN is investigating the LA problem, since 6 people a day are dying on the streets. America is in crisis. Most of the homeless folks are African Americans, over 50, and too poor to afford the rent increases. 50% suffer from mental illness or drug addictions. Our Country has a poor record of dealing with these problems. During the worst heat wave to date and the poor air quality, we’re dooming them to an early death. Rent stabilization would solve part of the problem. Building communal housing with separate bedrooms and baths is a solution. We’ve got many areas where we can build infrastructure to accommodate the homeless. We have choices to make about our society. Once we’ve made those choices, we can elect different people to Government and live in a more humane and technologically savvy society.
