Instead of raising the debt ceiling, Congress narrowly passed Hegseth for the Department of Defense.
Many executive orders went out. One, illegal EO, took aim at 15 inspectors general and fired them. That’s illegal and some will show up for work on Monday. What’s troubling is Congress’ inaction and their abrogation of checks and balances.
EO’s are shutting down the State Department for 3 months. Which is also beyond the Executive’s power and probably illegal?
The formation of Doge isn’t legal.
Making money while you’re the President of the US isn’t legal or ethical?
We don’t have a government, we have Gilbert and Sullivan play. An executive wielding A snickersnee, And a list?
Trump’s against diversity and inclusion, women’s reproductive rights , and people who don’t murder other people. While the Christian nationalist community is grooming child mass murderers. The two kids who last committed murder in Nashville and Madison were on the same chat rooms. These social media platforms shouldn’t exist? Where’s the FBI? Where’s Congressional oversight of Social Media platforms?
The alt right propagandists make $10 million a yr. Musk on X makes Billions and I can’t sell the Truth. These influencers put Trump in Office. Who knows what’s going on in our Country? Where is oversight?
The US Government is forcing a sale of TikTok? Why? It will go to one of the Tech bros and they’ll control the content, not the Chinese? It would be ok, if hate, violence, and abuse were limited.
The list of negatives is long. Where is Congressional oversight? Checks and balances? Who will uphold our Constitution? Every Cabinet appointee is chosen to destroy their institution? Wrecking balls are never required. I know, I’ve implemented change at Ford, Pfizer and Bankers Trust. It took 3 years.
Why are civil servants afraid? Trump doesn’t have the power to fire anyone. Why be afraid? He can say, your budget is cut, is it really? Congress controls the budget.
Why is Congress abrogating their responsibilities? Why aren’t they lifting the debt ceiling to cover expenses?
Because Congress has abrogated their responsibilities, Corporations are not accountable. Every sector of our Economy has monopolies. They’re not interested in change, only profits. We need a Teddy Roosevelt, not a Donald Trump who favors McKinley. We need a Trust Buster.
Our social media is out of control and dangerous. All kids should be banned from using smart phones till 16years minimum. They are too impressionable. Australia has a ban in place.
We’ve become a sick society in a few years, if folks are comfortable with what’s happening. Nothing works.
Will the Oligarchs competing interests block their power? Why are Government Institutions following Executive Orders? Trump doesn’t have the power to unilaterally shut down government. Only Congress has the power to alter the Budget? Again, why is Congress abrogating their responsibilities?
Hopefully, the Corporate Tax cuts will be allowed to expire and Corporations held accountable.
I understand not stopping Trump from getting into office, there was a potential for civil unrest ? However, everyone in Politics must be accountable to all the People, not a select few. Power cannot be the overriding goal.
To govern wisely with mercy, empathy , compassion and respect for justice, would be a goal I’d admire. I don’t believe we can continue to exist as a Democracy, if Corporations and people are not accountable for their actions.
Ultimately, there is only one truth.
How do we get to good governance, when so many in Politics lack integrity? Who will rein in all Lobbyists? Who will uphold checks and balances on an Imperial President?
