AmericaSpeaks TheVoiceOfJoyce As bad as this heatwave is this summer, Scientists predict, this will be the coolest summer moving forward. Many more will die from heat . Heat stroke is insidious, you don’t feel your body temperatures rising till it’s too late. Be hydrated and seek shelter. Every year globally, 20 million people seek refuge from Climate extremes in other Countries. This refugee movement will increase with weather conditions. The quicker we monitor temperature hot spots, the more lives we save in our cities. Remember the Summer of 1979, Chicago, 749 people died from the heat. Plant more trees for shade and start conservation all over the city. No grass, no lawns and more reflective surfaces and less water usage equitably.

AmericaSpeaks TheVoiceOfJoyce The Greenland ice caps are on target to lose enough water to cause a 10” rise in sea water globally. This is one Country and their ice cap. We must think about the alps, Himalayas, Antarctic and other regions of our globe as Fossil Fuel emission’s increase. 600 million live in coastal regions and $1Trillion in damages is anticipated. The cost to lives and property now exceeds the benefits of fossil fuel use. Collaboration globally is a necessity to integrate renewables into our existing grid systems. A major benefit is the employment of twice as many people at higher wages, making the Resurrection of the Middle Class possible.

TheVoiceOfJoyce China suffering severe drought and is offering assistance to farmers to help maintain their meager supplies. While they’re using coal in the short term, they’re investing heavily in R&D to be energy and food sufficient. Before Putin’s War on Ukraine, they we’re getting corn imports from the Ukraine. They’ve also invested in large vertical farms. Hydropower is unfortunately an option. Like most of Europe, their rivers are running dry. In the mid west and west, America has seen 1000 yr floods, 5 times in 5 weeks, the water doesn’t sink into the parched land. There must be a way to contain some of this excess water for future use. More flooding will occur, be prepared. The droughts, floods, fires are a Global concern. Earth is experiencing a weather extreme emergency and we the People, must seize this opportunity to change , establish R& D centers and get to Zero emission’s as quickly as possible. More mining, to disrupt our water supply may not be advantageous, we need new technologies and a way to encourage soil growth and water conservation.

TheVoiceOfJoyce Indoor vertical farming is developing rapidly in America. Even Walmart is investing in Vertical Farms and selling their vegetables in stores. The big problem is energy usage. The renewable grid hasn’t caught up to vertical farming and greenhouse farming in America. The pluses are use of LED lighting, freshness locally and 70-95% less water. Zero contamination from bacteria. The models have room for growth and positions vertical farms in industrial parks, close to cities. No fertilizer, no Carbon emissions. In fact, where emission’s must be trapped, these farms can safely use their power. Vertical farms, like renewables, are an evolving industry with room for improvement on quality production with low priced clean energy. It’s part of our future. The Netherlands already supplies the EU with fresh produce. More vegetables, high in protein will evolve and be used in Vertical Farming. Like Solar Power and other renewables, this industry is nascent and a necessary supplement to todays, field crops.

TheVoiceOfJoyce Another by product of Climate Change, pathogens unfamiliar with new territory are landing on our shores, carried by vectors, mosquitoes and others, bringing us malaria, west Nile disease, Covid and many more. As the world continues to heat, refugees are forced off their lands and carry diseases indigenous to their regions, to ours. Another reason to care about Climate Mitigation now. The benefits of Mitigation are a better quality of life and new jobs for new infrastructure industries. Being proactive will pay off in improved health and quality of life!

TheVoiceOfJoyce Climate Bill passed the Senate. It’s expected to be signed by the House & President and be a major step in Carbon Emission reductions. We’ll reach 40% reduction by the end of this decade, create 1.5 million clean energy jobs and offer massive incentives to people for switching to clean technologies: $8000 for heat pumps for cooling, Postal Fleet goes electric, $7500 credit to purchase electric cars and the bill insists on capping methane and carbon leaks into communities. Capping toxins curbs unnecessary deaths from pollutants and saves refineries money. Coupled with Medicare pricing negotiations, this bill is a win win for Society. A major step toward Climate Mitigation.

TheVoiceOfJoyce Another Corporation with no oversight and Cancer clusters are in southern New Hampshire ! PFAS, toxic forever chemicals have leached into our waters, once again. PFAS chemicals are all over: army bases are contaminated. Where are Regulations and Congressional oversight? Why aren’t Corporations held accountable? Fined? Made to clean our waters and provide health care to the 1000’s of citizens affected? Good governance has good laws to protect us, “We the People”, from harm. This is not an isolated incident. It’s another toxin we’re living with or dying from while our Government is grid locked. Flint has lead in their water. New Jersey has lead in their water and paint. Louisiana has toxic alley from petrochemicals. St. Louis has nuclear waste that was buried and leached into their water supply. Isn’t anybody writing Laws to provide us with clean drinkable water and fresh air to breathe? When do we decide our health and well being are more important than Corporate profits?

TheVoiceOfJoyce Another win for People in the USA, Delta flight attendants in the process of Unionizing. All the other airline have Unions, Delta was a hold out. Now, the People know it’s a necessity to bargain collectively for pay, benefits, work life balance. They want a seat at the table and will collect the necessary votes before year end. With a friendly NLRB, Delta’s previous Union busting tactics, may not to advised. Kudos, the People have spoken once again!

TheVoiceOfJoyce From the FINANCIAL TIMES: Charts of the California drought over the last 22 yrs. 2007, 2011 were pivot points when California ceased having intermittent droughts and heat. The heat causes a loop effect, creating more heat , more dryness as the temperature rises. Now, it’s not unusual for California temperatures to increase 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The droughts, fires and dry ground fuel each other making Climate Extremes more prevalent and dangerous. ( Giving my interpretation of conditions because I can’t share FT articles with all my followers)

TheVoiceOfJoyce The analysis: Fight Corporate greed and not working class people. Personal borrowing to purchase goods has increased. The consumer can’t fight monopolies. The Federal Government can put pressure on monopolies by promising a windfall tax on excess profits. Big oil and gas, have made record profits, they’re not investing, they’re giving shareholder buybacks. Why encourage their behavior, lower pricing at the pump by removing Subsidies and instituting a Windfall tax, for Corporations making huge profits, while passing on high costs to consumers ! Why should the 80% experiencing inflation, suffer from Corporate Greed? Give working people a chance to survive and thrive.
