TheVoiceOfJoyce Let’s make single payer healthcare a reality.

It’s easy. Either our Medicaid or Medicare is a model. Expand Medicare to cover all people 45 yrs and older. Then phase in everyone else.

To get human rights, first defeat Trumps Agenda and Gerrymandering by supporting Write in Candidates for Congress in every State. Write- in Candidates are not legalized in 4 States.

Before you head out for the Labor Day weekend, I wanted to make sure you heard about this important webinar on Wednesday, September 3rd. The webinar will be hosted by our allies at The Center for Health & Democracy, and will focus on UnitedHealth Group’s “vertical integration” strategy. Click here now to RSVP!

UnitedHealth Group is the largest healthcare company in the world — and they aren’t just an insurance company! The Center for Health & Democracy’s recent report shows how this once small, Minnesota based insurance company grew by acquiring smaller subsidiaries in every part of the healthcare system.

Today, UnitedHealth owns 1-in-10 doctors in the U.S.; they control websites that grade doctors and get hundreds of millions of views each month; they manage the pharmacy benefits of over 60 million people — and they operate in dozens of countries across the world.

Here’s the thing — healthcare costs in this country are out of control. Premiums go up every year, and this year, the cost of healthcare will go up by 25% for many working families. Co-pays go up, deductibles go up, and the quality of our care goes down. Rural hospitals close, patients are denied care, and companies like UnitedHealth group profit every step of the way.

When a company like UnitedHealth controls our insurance plans, owns the doctors we see, and manages how we get our care, they make money from every interaction we have with the healthcare system. Companies like UnitedHealth are incentivized to continue raising the cost of our care.

When our care gets more expensive, negotiators at the bargaining table have less leverage to fight for better wages and working conditions. While union workers like us are fighting to get by, CEOs and ultrawealthy shareholders pocket more and more money from our broken healthcare system.

There is a lot to unpack from this recent report, and we hope that you will join us by tuning into the webinar on September 3rd at 8pm Eastern Time.  Be sure to RSVP before you head out for the long weekend or hit the streets to stand in solidarity with union workers on Labor Day!

See you there,
