The IDF said it struck across Gaza after armed militants attacked Israeli forces in the southern part of the Strip, and that two soldiers were killed in the attack. Hamas said it is committed to the cease-fire with Israel and that it has no contact with militants located in the area where the clashes took place. U.S. President Trump said that if Hamas does not disarm, “we’ll have to do it for them.” The U.S. said it received “credible reports” that Hamas plans to attack Gazans in the Strip, and that the U.S. will act “to preserve the integrity of the cease-fire” if necessary. ■ GAZA: The IDF said it struck targets across Gaza after armed militants emerged from a tunnel and fired anti-tank missiles at IDF forces near the humanitarian aid route in the city, calling the attack a “blatant violation of the cease-fire agreement” and that it would respond “with force.” Later on Sunday, Israel’s government ordered the IDF to halt all entry of aid into the Strip “until further notice.”
- The IDF announced that two soldiers were killed in the attack: Major Yaniv Kula, 26 and and Staff Sgt. Itay Yavetz, 21.
- Arab media reported airstrikes in southern Gaza’s Rafah, in Jabalya, Nuseirat and Deir al-Balah. Gazan medics said 13 Palestinians were killed, mostly in central Gaza. According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, 68,159 people have been killed in the Strip since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023. The ministry added that Israel has handed over the bodies of 15 Palestiniansvia the International Red Cross on Sunday, and that a total of 150 bodies were handed over by Israel since the start of the cease-fire. According to the ministry, some of the bodies showed signs of being beaten.
- Later on Sunday, the IDF issued an “urgent warning” to Gazans not to cross the “yellow line” – the temporary border line behind which the IDF has deployed following the cease-fire agreement. A senior military official told Haaretz that Hamas has breached the agreement several times by attacking Israel beyond the “yellow line.”
