TheVoiceOfJoyce An unregulated internet gives a vice to foreign disrupters, culture wars, disinformation, violence and misinformation. Based on the algorithms used our behavior is modified and hive thinking occurs. Many remain linked in their own silos, not necessarily of their own choosing. The internet, the algorithms are not neutral, people can be gradually radicalized. Foreign actors and bots are difficult to detect. Our data is sold to third parties and their unaccountable. At the very least, Section 230 of the Communication Decency Act must change to reflect the Social Media Platforms evolution. No longer is the internet merely a free exchange of ideas between friends and communities. In many instances our behavior is manipulated and an algorithm decides who hires us, who gives us insurance and determines, based on our online behavior, if we’re worthy of that mortgage or job? Do you want mathematics to determine or limit, your life choices? How will we move from silos, to cooperation with others to solve real life problems? Like relationships? Climate Adaptation? Maintenance and participation in our Democracy? As people we need balance in our lives. It can be work life boundaries and it can be social media interactions and actions to improve our communities, in the real world, off line!

TheVoiceOfJoyce Diabetes is the 7 th largest cause of death in America. 1.3 million Americans have Diabetes and struggle to pay for their medication. Insulin is rationed and prior to the last decade, it was cheap. Corporate deregulation set in , greed abounded and the price increased dramatically. On January 1 st, 2023, insulin is capped at $35 per month for Medicare. If the age for Medicare was reduced to 55 yr olds, they , too, would have affordable coverage. The system is in place. What happens to families with kids? Where is the relief from Corporate Price abuses for them? If Corporations were humane, gave a living wage, increased cost of living pay, gave healthcare and paid sick day and provided a safe work place, we wouldn’t need to Unionize every industry in our Country. However, American Corporations only think of their profit margins and people, employees, are dispensable. Not any more. We the People, don’t have to be treated poorly or intimidated. Document abusive behavior toward you. Take photos of your work place, keep records and when you can vote Union, do it. A stronger NLRB would encourage sectoral Unions, one shop or warehouse unionizes, they’re allUnionized. No need for separate voting. TheVoiceOfJoyce Europe, dependent on Russian oil, will be plunged into recession. China is suffering from a real estate ponzu scheme and Zero Covid policy, crippling its economic output. America, we have short term problems brought on by Corporate Greed. Corporations here are monopolies without competition. They charge whatever they can, while keeping labor wages low. It’s a win win for a few. In the 80’s Volcker raised interest rate to curb inflation and it wasn’t until America was plunged into Recession, that the government raised taxes to get us out of the Recession. Both the US and UK should take a policy lesson from the 1980’s, start taxing Corporations now. Go to 28% and close loopholes. Then, it won’t matter if labor get a long deserved increase in pay and benefits. Labor needs these increases to survive. Americans need Corporations and the top 1% to pay their fair share. A 2% tax on the top 1% assets would add billions to the IRS. A 28% tax on Corporations should be the first step towards taxing Corporations. Their free ride, is making it impossible for too many Americans to survive. Raising interest rates is one tool in the Federal toolbox. Another tool is raising Corporate taxes. Then fund the IRS to collect the tax. I always thought, this country needed to put 1000’s of auditors to work and collect the trillions in tax evasion.
