We heard from Yasmine Taeb, Legislative & Political Director for MPower Change Action Fund, about the movement’s response to the most recent incidents in Iran: “we can and we must pivot and refuse any tax payer money to fund the carpet bombing of the people of Iran and instead be used for healthcare, education, and not war crimes,” That’s $50 billion dollars to an illegal war that working people did not sign up for only to fill the pockets of greedy war profiteering corporations and “leaders”. Take action and demand tech companies choose workers and the constitution over profit.
What’s happening overseas is wrong. We know that. Nina Turner reminded us that “the same corrupting forces that don’t care about us in the US lack capacity to care for anybody else’s people and that’s why we must rise up and use the most precious resource that we have and that is our labor.”
As our fearless emcee, Saqib Bhatti of ACRE/BCG shared: on May 1, workers, students, families, and communities across the country will take part in a coordinated day of No School. No Work. No Shopping. Not as symbolism, but as a collective refusal to continue business as usual in a country where the rules have been rigged for billionaires and corporations. May Day 2026 is only the beginning, but it’s a necessary step towards building a world that prioritizes all workers.
