Joyce,

Big news! Wendy Weiser from the Brennan Center for Justice is going to join our emergency call tonight!

The Supreme Court’s latest decision is a devastating blow to everyone’s right to vote, and it’s kicked off a spree of states redrawing their own maps. We have to fight back, and we’re going to talk about how.

Join Red Wine & Blue, Wendy, and NAACP lawyer Janai Nelson, who argued the case in front of the Supreme Court, for Protecting Our Voting Rights When the Supreme Court Won’t. RSVP for TONIGHT at 7:30pm ET!

Hi Joyce,

Once again the Supreme Court has made clear that they won’t protect our right to vote. So it’s time for us to step up.

Supreme Court decisions, like the one that just dropped in Louisiana v. Callais, impact our whole country. But they can often feel very wonky. It can be hard to get to the nitty gritty when the media is using words like ‘gerrymandering,’ ‘redistricting,’ and ‘voting provisions.’

Here’s the TL;DR: A full one-third of Louisiana is Black, but the legislature has made sure they are only the majority of the voting population in one Congressional district. One.

And the Supreme Court just said that’s absolutely fine. They said it’s fine in Louisiana and in every single state in the country.

This is a devastating blow to everyone’s right to vote, and it’s kicked off a spree of states redrawing their own maps. We have to fight back, which is why we’re having an emergency meeting Wednesday night.

The Supreme Court’s decision has started an avalanche of anti-voting measures.

Now that states have free rein to draw minority neighborhoods into different Congressional districts, they’re jumping at the chance to dilute their vote.

Louisiana’s governor just suspended the primary election after ballots were already in the mail so the legislature could hand Congress more extremist seats.1

Florida’s legislature is drawing a new map that breaks up Black-majority districts that have been in place since 1992.2

And let’s not forget how the SAVE Act is still up for a vote in the Senate – and with this latest Supreme Court decision, we are all but assured they would hold up this terrible bill if it became law.

This decision by the Supreme Court is an attack on Black voting power, an attack on Black America, and an attack on the future of American democracy. But we still have the power to fight the legislators that are trying to steal our voices – and on Wednesday, we’ll show you how.

RSVP now for Protecting Our Voting Rights When the Supreme Court Won’t tonight at 7:30pm ET!

See you there!
