If you are reading this, you are probably just as stressed about our Democracy as I am. It seems like every day there’s new headlines. Trump said this! Epstein files! Trump’s head on Mount Rushmore? He’s getting the Nobel Peace Prize??? (Yes, these are two very real things my opponent, Anna Paulina pitched).
But, while we do have to pay attention to the crazy, what if I told you that it’s all a distraction?
Let’s back up a little. I’m a former IRS attorney who investigated the rulebreaking of the top 10% of the top 1%. I’m also a veteran, and a dad, but in my career since the military, I discovered a terrifying fact: the rules that the Government lawyers have to play by aren’t written to advocate for the taxpayer, they are written to protect the billionaire class.
Every time Luna says something crazy, she’s hoping you will pay more attention to that than the fact that her billionaire buds are getting richer, and richer, and richer. I believe wecan change this.
The strategy is as old as time, but it’s being executed with modern precision: keep the public locked in a cycle of outrage over the absurd so they don’t notice the quiet redistribution of power. While the headlines focus on monuments and provocative rhetoric, the real damage is being done in the fine print of tax codes and deregulation. When we are busy arguing over the latest social media firestorm, we aren’t looking at the hands in the cookie jar. This isn’t just about “politics as usual”, it’s about a fundamental imbalance where the loudest voices in the room are used to drown out the needs of the kitchen table.
